all i can say is dont trust your surroundings. your friends, of all people, probably know where you keep your car, what kind of security devices are on it, what time you sleep, when and where you're at. im not pointing any fingers, but as a hypothetical example, i was on GTRCanada before and noticed some complaints about transactions made between C-unit and some other members. with all relationship stigmas aside, if a person ripped someone off once, compared to a total stranger, how much more likely is that person going to rip someone else off again?

C-Unit is probably one of the most Solid ppl i know in the car scene. never let me down or turned me away for help or work ever!

Why do people not like talking about their wage / icbc pay outs or anything really related to receiving money?

I dont care how much the OP got, im just curious as the why the general populous dont like sharing that kind of info,

does it really matter?

bensta 02-17-2011 03:02 PM

it's a respect thing as far as im concerned.. its like asking a girl her age when u first meet her. bad idea..

Cuz then you can't use the excuse that you didn't know she was underage, right?

I could care less if the entire world knows how much i make a year, what i payed for my car or how much my apartment is worth. Thats only my opinion though, to most people it is a very personal and sensitive subject. For that reason, unless you have been told otherwise, it's best to assume thats information that a person rather not share. Especially in the environment of a forum.

I can't say for sure whether the owner/operator of the tow truck is implicated in the scheme, however, he has to be held liable for his negligence in towing a vehicle without sufficient paperwork.

If not, I forsee this situation happening again. Collect as much information as possible. Contact a lawyer and perhaps involve ICBC as I'm sure this situation would be of interest to them.

And finally, I would avoid making comments or posting photos of the tow truck operator until you have consulted a lawyer.

Still hoping you recover your car.

Kev

I completely agree..., this tow truck driver should be held responsible. If he took the vehicle without paperwork that is out and out theft. No matter who he says told him to. Either he gets charged with theft or he gives up the name..., and he has a name. I have NEVER seen a tow truck take a car without paperwork and without money..., NEVER! by paperwork I don't mean an ID, as that is useless, I mean a request to tow...,

New Update.

Even thou I got paid out in March, I got a call today from ICBC.

Turns out, there is a new adjuster on my file, who overlooked the file, and felt something wasn't right. ICBC has now decided to hold him Liable, taking him to court, and they said the towtruck has filed a counter-suit against ICBC. Which they felt is quite suspicious....

So I was told to keep my pics, build threads, and full history etc about the car. They said this was a special case, and has drawn attention regarding tow trucks and their responsibilities. Might need to appear in court on ICBC's defense.

Whatever it takes to keep our cars safe:), and they said they are still looking for the car since I showed interested after payout to get it back.

I hope ICBC wins. I have little doubt in my mind that the tow truck guy outright stole the car. Just finding him liable is better than nothing, but ideally he would also be charged with grand theft auto.

GabAlmighty 06-09-2011 01:57 PM

So... What'd you get for your car?
