It is stunning the shots that thing is capable of...for 15 grand.

skyxx 05-25-2013 05:40 PM

That's a million dollar shot right there. The MoVI is expensive to consumers but to filmmakers it saves them time and allows them to focus more on the perfect shot. In those terms it's a money saver. I want one LOL

Lomac 05-25-2013 07:26 PM

That's one hell of a steadicam, but you'll need to make sure your camera operator has strong forearms :lol

I love that drop shot, though. I've done those sort of shots with cranes before while running a remote head, but the ability to not be constrained to a giant piece of metal that's ultimately still attached to the ground would be freakin' amazing.

And I hate to say this, but all things considered, $15k is actually pretty cheap for a setup that versatile. Check out the price of proper film-grade steadicam outfits or mechanized cranes and you'll see what I mean. :heckno:

Anyone have a recommendation for a DSLR steadicam? eBay?

Lomac 05-25-2013 08:34 PM

What's your total equipment weight and price range? I'm a big fan of the Glidecam HD-series (i've got the HD 2000), but it's still a few hundred dollars for just the steadicam itself.

Ronin 05-25-2013 08:47 PM

Heaviest camera I'd use on it is a 5D3. I was looking at the Skylar minicam for portability.

european 05-25-2013 08:48 PM

I recently purchased a Glidecam HD2000 from bhphotovideo and its great! Highly recommended. I still think that I should have purchased the HD4000.
:considered:

When it comes to steadicams, you want something that's as easy to adjust as possible, yet versatile enough that should you decide to switch between a 16mm prime and a 75-200mm telephoto, you only need to move the cheese plate in order to readjust the stability.

There are two things I look for in a steadicam:
-Cheese plate mount
-Fine-tune adjustment screws

Trust me, you will curse the day you ever bought one without both of those options.

hello all,

my first try at cutting a video into something.
I made it for my parents and girlfriend, but why not share it here as well?

Jordan and I went down to Mexico for a wedding about two months ago now and we had a little too much fun with tilt-shift time-lapse :)

Ronin 06-24-2013 02:38 PM

Great edit and music. Love that you captured small moments like when gives the bride's face a squeeze and she smiles.

Those folks look like they know how to have a good time. :lol

<---- this is not what my face looks like right now.

Why didn't anyone tell me holding a steadycam was SO F'N HEAVY?!

I'm gonna either have to fly the GH2 or get an arm brace. 5D3 + L = OH GOD MY WRISTS

mb_ 07-21-2013 07:20 PM

Don't know where else I could post this without making a new thread but what effect/transition is it called at 13 seconds?

Just a short timelapse I did with my GoPro last night @ Sechelt B.C

BoostedBB6 07-29-2013 10:39 PM

My good god! You guys have some serious talent.
I have wanted to play with my DSLR and grab some video but I'm a photography noob and have done 0 video. I guess its about time I start learning.

A good friend have a glidepro that he will sell me for a good deal. I think I may have to snag that one up!

european 08-03-2013 02:17 PM
