Twixtor actually works quite well. It's been proven with many short films. :) Good stuff! |
i might be asking for too much but are there any good cheap diy camera slider tutorials? something i can mount on my tripod? i saw this guy's slider down in the states haha http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6109729_n.jpg |
The cheapest solution for that kind of slider is going to run around 150$. The one he's using is called a Motion Slider (search it on eBay). Or build your own from the DIY IGUS kits. You cut the rails and mount the tray etc. It's a really cost effective solution. However, these are friction based systems. The more weight you have on the more momentum and more drag. They're also susceptible to dust etc. Roller bearing sliders such as the Konova units and other higher end systems (300$+) are much smoother and the bearings will need occasional lube. The SUPER cheap way is to mount your tripod on a big board will angled roller blade wheels on a ladder. But it's super cumbersome and big. I tried using a DIY one J_____ lent me but the friction and wobbly ballhead doesnt make for good footage. You can borrow my Konova to try out if you want. |
damn, i was actually hoping a diy one like that would be like $20 LOL :( filming is so much more expensive than just taking pics :/ i guess i have to round up ore money before i get into this :/ im just gonna use a longboard for now but i bet its gonna be shakey lol thanks alot for the info Jordan ! |
You can build one using wood. Get those premade wooden tracks and find a wooden plate and attatch wooden wheels to it! I've seen some dude use it and it was quite smooth. Most of the time you won't use the sound anyway so any noise made by it will not be an issue. http://www.toycollector.com/hwdphoto.../track_019.jpg Just find some wooden tracks off craiglist or something. :lol. Now that's truly DIY. Quote:

Yeah depending on how long the slider is, it can be pretty hairy. I'm using this Manfrotto 161MK2B with my 36 inch slider and it's pretty solid. I just need a quick release so I dont strip the threads on the slider soon. The tripod is SO heavy and big though that it makes shoots tiring, but hey I got it for free so I can't complain. And it takes 20kgs lol. |

Im gonna go purchase some PVC and see what the results are..keep u guys posted... |
Are you coming to the shoot on the 10th? I have a couple ski poles in the back of my truck that I found while hiking. You can have one if you want? |

Did anyone back this project? I'm considering it. |
his goal was to get $20k in funding...he got over $200k in financial backing lol, pretty sweet. Hope it turns out well for the developer |
shoulda added music... my test reel lolol |
I can see the Cinesliders being a good idea. But the shots it's going to get is only going to work a good handful of times. You need a completely flat surface to use it on, indoors and or bring boards with you everywhere you go. It'd be amazing for product shots. |

Jay Sean was performing in surrey last night so i got some shots from the 1 song we were aloud to record. recorded on the af-100, 35mm nikon f2, 1080p 30fps & iso 800 |

I'm working on a modified variant of this right now. Factoring in the final cost with what you get for the final product, it's actually a pretty good, yet cheaply priced setup for a DIY. |
