Does have anyone know of other good ways to eat these spotted prawns besides boiling them and eating with sauce? Pan fried prawns? If there was only a Red Lobster restaurant in this part of the world.

What I do is take the head off of course then I mix butter, tons of garlic and franks hot sauce in a frying pan then toss the prawns in. Cook until pink and they are ready to eat.

I grab french bread to dip in the sauce and it's so tasty. I make it for parties all the time and everyone loves it.

When I was still working at Thrifty Foods we used to get them and some of them would still be alive. At first they were pretty big but I found the following year they were quite a bit smaller. Anyhow if you want good quality I would recommend thrifty foods, call first and ask if they have any and to keep the head on them if you would like. But thrifty foods is kinda expensive haha.

A marble in the heart recipe good with basmati.

In the pan cook up some chopped bacon,
Add some dijon mustard and a bit of crab boil.
As that's cooking add 1/2 stick of butter and some minced garlic.
Once it's bubbling along insert peeled spotties, barely cook the spots or vulcanising shame will ensue.
Serve on rice, pronto.

This is good with IPA beer or a Gewurztraminer wine.

A ceaser salad wouldn't hurt either.

Those plates looked pretty small last year, not worth it IMHO. Rather grab a couple pounds of live prawns and cook them at home... My wine and liquor selection is better at home too!

Yeah.
If you get them while they are hopping and pissed off, then they are awesome.
I shell them, remove the intestinal tract and then pop them in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes.
Sashimi. Done.

Sashimi. Done.
I usually just rinse it them off, then put them on ice, snap the head off, clean the tract and eat. So GOOD.

They stay alive on ice for a couple hours.

Eating prawns (and lobsters, shrimp, etc) is pretty much the same as eating insects..

How would you guys eat it raw? What to do with the heads? Deep fry them?

The water tank doesn't look very clean. Plus how do you shell it when its jumping around?

Boiling it in hot water would be the best way for me.
