SBSettings and BiteSMS like features are what I really want... looks like iOS 5 doesn't do that.

..for everything else, there's jailbreaking.

I also heard that due to the iPhone 5's design (slimmer) that they're having trouble making them as fast as they'd like to.

This is true. 3rd party apps was started by the jail break community making games and useless apps just to test the capabilities of the phone.

I remember playing the first EVER version of tap tap revolution. it had 1 song and I don't even remember if there was a score to keep.

The "app store" back then was this program you download with your phone connected to the pc and you browse the less than 100 3rd party apps to install.

I heard some where that it was suppose to be out on sept 7 i dont think thats gonna happen tho.... freaking apple always keeps us waiting

Looking at the beta testers its still terrible or rather not as good as 3rd party apps.

Try out Atomic or iCab. They are 99cts/1.99. I have both and I actually enjoy surfing on the ipad more than on chrome/ff due to the small subtle features like shake to search 3 tap to save etc.

Seems like you can set your own text tone with latest beta.

And the ipad 1 only has enough memory for one tab anyway. Switching tabs = reloading pages, so it's the same as having an untabbed browser.

I still can't believe people were satisfied with the ipad 1 :lol

Wow, WTF people.

The ipad was outdated the moment it was introduced. The thing was built to be slow and cheap. It was ALWAYS slow and cheap, and anyone would have noticed if they had their heads out of their asses from day one. Even a mediocre cell phone performed better than an ipad at the time. Now, it's not even close.

But it was smart for apple to design it that way. Everyone bought one, from people who actually found it to be useful, to the idiots who wanted the latest new apple toy. If that hadn't happened, they wouldn't have taken much of a loss due to the slow cheap hardware used to build them. As it is, most people were satisfied with the performance for some stupid reason, so they went on to make millions from them.

What I don't get is how nobody noticed this before. I never used one until I got my own, and I instantly realized what a slow piece of shit it is. Not even comparing it to a dual core Android, or an ipad 2, or even an iphone. Its slow processor and miniscule amount of RAM make it useless by any standard you judge it upon.

I used my friends iPad and it was faster than my iPhone 4.

That makes sense, since they use the same CPU, but it will probably be underclocked on the iphone 4. I've never used an iphone 4, so I can't say. But if it's as slow or slower than an ipad, wow.

It does have more ram though, so should be faster for "multitasking"
