You've got lots of time then. Not only will the new iPhone be out, but it will have been out for a few months so you won't have to suffer through line-ups if you decide to buy one.

That makes sense, since they use the same CPU, but it will probably be underclocked on the iphone 4. I've never used an iphone 4, so I can't say. But if it's as slow or slower than an ipad, wow.

It does have more ram though, so should be faster for "multitasking"

I find my iPhone 4 to be quite snappy and I'm never "waiting" for any tasks to complete on it. My Apps start quickly and are all responsive. The same goes for my iPad.

I'm not sure what tasks/Apps you're doing where you find it to be so slow - perhaps you'd like to share them so those of us with an iPad can try them for ourselves and see what all the fuss is about.

Strong rumours saying it'll be out in October.

That prob means Novemeber for Canada.

And that means unless u wanna line up 12 hours, you won't get it for a while.

Everything. Reading ibooks, pages take an extra half-second to a second to flip sometimes. Switching to the email app, it takes a second to load. Switching tabs in the browser, sometimes it "loses" the page you were on, so it has to refresh the page. Clicking on text boxes in the browser, it takes a second or two for the keyboard to pop up. And even longer for it to become responsive. And sometimes, there is a slight lag between hitting the keys and the letters appearing. Some games are completely unplayable, such as Monkey Island, Pulse, and many more. I have given up on gaming. The whole thing just feels like a cheap midrange phone. You could get similar performance from a $250 Android LG or Samsung phone. Not something you expect from a $600 to $740 "high end" iphone 4. These are all quantifiable - I could make a video if I wanted.

If you don't notice these things, you just don't know any better. AND THAT IS A GOOD THING. BELIEVE ME. What I don't get though, is that more people don't notice them. I know most iphone/ipad users are Apple FANS and are blind and ignorant to anything negative about "their" company's products, but with SO many users, you'd expect more people to notice how slow their phone is. Guess you wouldn't notice unless you have experience with other smartphones, computers, and similar devices, I guess.

PS this is the first time you have been level headed and participatory in a discussion, instead of coming off like a mindless troll because someone doesn't prefer the same phone as you. That's why I responded.

not sure if this was posted, im too lazy to look :P

looks like I was right about why Apple didn't announce Iphone5

they saw the Nokia N9 and decided to make some additions/changes so they add something seen in the N9

dr.funk 07-19-2011 03:35 PM

I heard some where they where going to call it the 4S....

IIymij 07-23-2011 04:01 PM

The Ipad 1 is not dual core. It has a single core ARM Cortex A8 that does 42 MFLOPS on linpack. About the same as a midrange phone of its day when $600-740 phones are doing 80-100 MFLOPS

Ipad 2 scores 170, so it is very fast at FPU calculations.

You're forgetting Jobs wanted to make the original iPhone buttonless back in 2007, but couldn't due to technology at the time.

And this feature isn't that useful. It probably would be for people with disabilities (hence the name Assistive), but for a regular user it doesn't offer much.

So it looks like someone might be leaking Apple details again as there are some snaps of possible future iPhone 5 cases (just like the iPad 2 cases that showed up before the iPad 2 did).

The mockup in this article from April looks bang on.

i really find it odd they are going to a curved back style like the itouch

imo the ip4 with the 'sqaured' shape looks insane. sharp, clean, and modern.

i think it is a step backwards in terms of looks/design.

G 07-28-2011 03:52 PM

I heard iOS5 is out or something? Can someone give more details? I kind of want to get rid of my jailbreak and get the iOS5...

DanHibiki 07-28-2011 03:58 PM

^ iOS5 Beta 4 is out but for Developers only.

If you know someone with a dev account you can get them to add your phone's UDID and then u can use it.

Google around, there were people doing it for just about anyone.

I'm on iOS5 right now. I miss my jailbreak though :(. But it sure is awesome!

I notice I get a lot of crashes when I'm playing sf4volt

G 07-28-2011 04:02 PM

^How did you get your dev acc? Share and PM me!

If anything happens to my iphone4 will it void anything?

DanHibiki 07-28-2011 04:04 PM

My friends are dev's and have an account.

They a little on the paranoid side of things so I don't think they would do it for strangers sorry dude.

Dont ask for Dev betas. it will only end in pain and sorrow

CRS 07-28-2011 05:55 PM

Please, don't go back to the smooth edged instead of the current look.

DanHibiki 07-28-2011 06:54 PM

Even though iOS5 is better and all. I wasn't blown away like I thought I'd be.

Makes me wanna switch to an Android even more now...

Psykopathik 08-01-2011 06:31 PM
