iOS5 needs to come out sooner. I'm tired of annoying ass popup notifications.

Apple Loses iPhone 5 In A Bar?

So, did they really lose one, or is this all some sort of carefully conceived publicity stunt? With all the pictures of cases, parts and other "new iPhone" rmuors coming out, it almost seems like someone is playing a game to make sure nobody really knows what it's going to look like.

anyone have a release date?
My contract ends in October -- looking to get one of these with Rogers.

“Apple fixture” being installed at Best Buy on October 21st, possible iPhone 5 launch day
By Ian Hardy on September 4, 2011 at 7:04am in Mobile News

A leaked screenshot showing an email to Best Buy Managers, most likely located in the United States, reveals that an “Apple fixture” will be installed on October 21st. Sure, something like this happens every week with all the various manufacturers that Best Buy represents – but this is different. First, it’s Apple. Second, managers are being asked to report to stores at 6:00am that day. According to This Is My Next, their tipster says that Managers usually show up for inventory at 7:00am and the last time an early start like this happened was for the iPhone 4 launch… thus, pointing towards an iPhone 5 release date of Friday, October 21st, 2011.

This mid-to-late October iPhone 5 release date is what the latest round of rumours suggest. Recently, John Paczkowski of AllThingsD stated that “So when can we expect the company to uncrate the iPhone 5? ‘October,’ the source said, while declining to offer a hard-launch date. Other sources said it will be later in the month, rather than earlier”.

So for now you can tentatively put October 21st in your calender as the iPhone 5 launch date. Ironically, a Google search for October 21, 2011 is also the day that some are predicting the world to end.

BGR is reporting that pre-order starting this week and actual launching first week of October.

Thanks to a leaked document from a Best Buy source, we have discovered that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating taking preorders for the iPhone 5 starting in the first week of October. What’s a tad bit more interesting, however, is the mention (and further anticipation) that Sprint will be carrying the iPhone 5 at launch. Best Buy makes sure to note that Apple product introduction and launch dates are subject to change, but a preorder date changing is pretty different from a new carrier getting a phone for the first time.

UPDATE: Our source clarified that it’s actually possible presales will be starting this week with the phone arriving in the first week of October, not preorders starting in October.

im sure you've all seen the supposed new iphone case pictures, but just in case you haven't...

its definitely NOT for an iPod. note all the locations for buttons, mic and headphone jack. they all correspond to the iPhone and not iPod. space for a mute button on the other side and a power/sleep button above the camera on the back????

sweet, looks like the iphone is going to have a curved back again!

dangonay 09-08-2011 05:44 AM

^ Also rumored to be teardrop shaped or thinner at the bottom if the case manufacturers were given the proper dimensions. ;)

There are reports now that Foxconn has ramped up production to 150K iPhone 5's per day, or basically running at full capacity. This is also backed up by the fact that the touchscreen supplier and both battery suppliers for Apple are also running at full capacity. They're making a lot of phone components for somebody, and the most logical assumption is they're for Apple.

rumour of pre-orders starting in 3 weeks

LiquidTurbo 09-08-2011 01:00 PM

I'm waiting on the announcement, dammit!

tiger_handheld 09-08-2011 03:04 PM

i might as well as here too: will Mobilicity or Wind get Iphone 5?

Vale46Rossi 09-08-2011 03:07 PM

Anyone got the updated OS 5.0 7?

It's gotten a lot damn better since the last version.

dangonay 09-08-2011 03:36 PM

^ Been using all of the betas as they came out. Seems to be getting close. Though there is a rumor currently produced iPhones aren't being packaged as they still need the final build of iOS 5 to be loaded. But it must be getting damn close. Or maybe when you first get your iPhone it's going to do an OTA update to add the final features.

damn i hated the curved back of the iphone 3 series...one of the reasons i bought iphone 4 was cuz of the edged minimalistic design. Guess I'm going back to android now.

essel 09-10-2011 09:14 PM

^ Yeah if they go back to that ugly curved back again I might go android as well

G 09-10-2011 10:06 PM

So any ETA on iOS5 yet? Is it still on beta?

LiquidTurbo 09-11-2011 12:36 AM

Proabably 3-4 weeks.

thanks. just makes it that much easier for me to get one on launch date.

i hated that all flat design, it doesnt feel nice in your hand. curved back can not be beat.

wreck 09-11-2011 12:40 PM

I think going back to a curved back rather then staying with the modern squared look is a massive step backwards in design.

^It really depends on how curved it will be. IMO a lot of speculation on what it will look like, but Apple never really disappoints on their designs.

Wow, I didn't know we were still in the age where the exterior phone design was the main deciding factor in buying a phone.

I loved the look of the iPhone 4 flat design but I agree, it didn't feel secure in my hand. Also having a glass back makes it that much scarier to use, naked.

You see tons of 3G's and 3Gs' with no case but hardly any iPhone4 with no case.

Honestly, if it was a slight curve tapering to a flat surface kind like the ip2/ipt4 then its ok, if it is round and wobbles when on a table like the 3/3s then I will seriously consider switching over to sgs2.

Funny all the people I know using 4s are using them without a case or rather only with a fully body wrap thingy. I personally have dropped mine countless times from my table/bed/counter granted its not a high drop but it is much tougher that it looks.
