For rooted users, what are some must needed apps?

go to first post, then start reading till you see this post.

Not necessarily an app question per say, but is there an app (or other) that allows you to sync apps between phones and tablets? I'm getting kinda tired of loading the same programs on different machines. I know when I first bought my tablet it synced the majority of apps off of my phone, but nothing since.

For people who are sticking with ICS should really get Google Now. I don't really use the cards all that much but I find that I use voice search and voice typing A LOT more now that voice recognition has really improved. Thing I like about it is that it displays the words as you speak instead of the whole sentence at once. It's really great for English and works perfectly for Cantonese. What I've done is set it to just Cantonese since it recognizes English at the same time. If you enable both languages it gets too messy switching between them.

Is Google Now only available in JB? or is it available on ICS as well? My Galaxy Nexus is running on ICS, but I can't seem to find / enable Google Now.

sonick 08-17-2012 09:30 AM

Only on JB but can be installed to ICS when rooted. I think it was posted a few pages back

i have it installed but haven't tried it yet, doesn't "Bump" do something like that?

I don't think so- it allows you to share things but it doesn't really sync it. You still have to physically "bump" the items. I think he's looking for a solution much like what Apple has.

Exactly. I have an old Samsung Galaxy Captivate and I'm pretty sure that doesn't have the bump feature in it anyway...

Since I don't always have both devices on me, what I do is push the app to both my devices via the play store website
https://play.google.com/store

I click install to device A, then click install again and push to device B.

Another option is to use NFC

Any good call blocker apps? On gingerbread I had a blacklist built in, but with my Ics, there is no blacklist which sucks.

anyone know where to get SF4? =(

mk1freak 08-22-2012 11:39 PM

playing ff3 on the nexus 7 and amazing spiderman on the note, tested it out then ended up buying it. 6.99 each iirc (thank you nexus 7 credit)
also bought auralux and all the upgrade levels..great time killer

EndLeSS8 08-23-2012 11:44 AM

I'm addicted to Dark Summoner

Asphalt 7 is the best $0.99 cents I've spent in my life.
The game is amazing, practically PS3 graphics

@J_____: apparently SF4 was only released for a few phones but the other versions for other phones are hacks or something.

Is everyone using Beautiful Widgets for Time/Weather? Is it better than Accuweather haha.

!MiKrofT 08-28-2012 09:38 AM

I use HD Widgets.

3klipze 09-13-2012 06:31 PM

looking for a really good calender app. Free if possible, if the paid features are outstanding then i wont mind.

Need it on my S3 and Transformer tab

dyan 09-13-2012 07:12 PM

Stock google calender not doing it for you? You can sync between your S3 and Transformer tab.

Business Calendar free isn't too bad.

Calengoo

It's $6 yet the best overall calendar app. It syncs with your Google Calendars + Tasks, the interface is not cluttered, the widgets are diverse and aren't bad on the eye (unlike Business Calendar...holy christ). I would give it a try. If it's not for you, you have a 15 minute refund period?

!MiKrofT 09-14-2012 12:12 AM

I use business calendar. It's perfect for me. Bought it during the $.10 sale. I didn't like calengoo's method of adding appointments. My other choice is pocket informant but it's too expensive for my purposes. I use simple calendar for my widget which is free.

Do you mean carrier-added apps? The only way to do that is to root your phone, download Titanium Backup, and then you can go ahead and remove unwanted apps.

I didn't link you to XDA because I don't know what phone you have. But if you search your phone model and XDA in google, you'll find the android development section for your phone. From there, you'll see a ton of stickies of how to root your phone. That's really the "hardest" part.

What is the best Android phone security app? For locking out the phone if it is stolen etc?

I use AndroidLost
