I learnt my lesson the hard way, this happened last year on a heavy rainy day, a truck cut me off with no signaling, i honk the horn, he hard brake checked me, i tried to change lane but i hydro plane, slammed into him. The truck driver laughed while calling ICBC. all the witnesses drove away, no one would stop in heavy rain for me. I told ICBC the whole story, still ended up as my fault, from that day onwards, I always have my dash cam, always.

Does anyone happen to have a Blackvue cigarette power cable they don't need? Mine was stolen from my car a while ago and wanted to start using my dash cam again.

Wow, that's loud.

You can turn that off within the settings, you can also adjust the volume.

Keeken N56 generic chinese brand dashcam. advertises front as 1440p BUT goes down to 1080P when hooked up to optional rearcam addon. lacks GPS though.

1080P front / 1080P rear. not bad for budget dual dashcam. (set your youtube to 1080P res)

FerrariEnzo 12-10-2018 08:25 AM

1080p 60fps or 4k 3fps? Which is better? I think 60fps would be because your car is constantly moving, so the increased fps would be more helpful?

Are there any 4k 60fps dashcams?

twitchyzero 12-10-2018 10:05 AM

30fps 4K is barely out...there's no 4k60 in dash cams yet

1080 will have better low light (larger pixels)

!Aznboi128 12-10-2018 10:09 AM

no real advantage of using 4k just yet, the blackvue dr900s is barely better than the dr750s

Acura604 12-15-2018 10:00 PM

Keeken N56 1080P 60FPS mode.

man, love 60fps...so fluid and smooth...

underscore 12-15-2018 10:30 PM

With my older dashcams I set them to 720p60 instead of 1080p30, I find the added framerate more useful than overall res (especially at picking out plates of moving vehicles).

I picked up a few new cameras for my new car the other day. Canadian Computer is clearing out their old DDpai mini cameras, as these ones are now a few models old. Picture quality is good, install was easy. For $50, I bought two. Only a few left in Vancouver and Lansdowne. https://www.canadacomputers.com/prod...item_id=103649

I checked out the night shots on my dashcam and found a lot of light pillars/light streaks likely due to micro scratches on the windshield. Has anyone tried any DIY glass cutting kits to fix scratched glass?

the glare is caused by the curvature in your windshield
try an ND filter

ND filter just cuts light you need a polarized filter.

Bouncing Bettys 02-06-2019 07:22 AM

Both of my vehicles were broken into sometime last night. All they took was my cheap dash cam, so I guess I'm in the market for a new one.

derp brain fart on my part

switching gear,

let's talk parking mode

current: r975 with voltage cut off 12.4v to prevent deep cycling the battery = inadequate run time for smaller car batteries like in a Civic

new: 750s-2ch, thinking of pairing it with cellink neo, but i have short drives (dedicated battery wont get recharged fully after being depleted, but i just want to set it and forget it)

is there a way to 'geofence' so i have parking mode automatically disabled when i'm garaged at home?

Witnessed an accident this morning, copy has been given to the drivers involved

What are you guys using for SD cards these days? I tend to have memory issues before actual camera failures which is a little annoying.

Sandisk or Samsung high endurance cards (for security cams and dash cams). Knock on wood so far so good.

Mr.Money 04-24-2019 09:13 AM

some people say "high endurance" cards are a gimmick and have a regular Samsung micro sd working cards for 3 years.

so its possible peace of mind buying high endurance memory cards over anything else.

DJ Milk 04-24-2019 03:41 PM

Before I used whatever was affordable from NCIX. It was usually ADATA, PNY, Patriot or some weird name cards like that. After like a year those cards would only record sometimes or not at all and I only found out when I was going to pull a video from it. Since then I've switched to Kingston cards and it's been a few years and all of them are still working fine today.

twitchyzero 04-24-2019 08:05 PM

sandisk was my go to before the WD acquisition
now i try to get samsung evo select or plus
