Blackvue DR400G-HD.

The same brand that everyone asks about.

Krazynuck and I both ordered our blackvues together and I finally got mine working with the new english firmware.

quality is amazing on my computer, youtube really downgrades it

weird, after posting I opened the video on youtube and it's uploaded by autolismo, so I went to the autolismo site and the sample video under their v3 cam links to the same video

It took me awhile to change the menu language to english by looking at pictures online of an english menu. The lady's voice can't be changed or turned off so I just taped the speaker up. Also I can't upgrade the firmware. No sample video yet but I'm going to assume it's better than the KCI BlackBox but not as good as the BlackVue. I will post videos later.

wow that audio would totally annoy me. i'd try to pop it open and disable the speaker wire. at least you get english menus.

MeowMeow 05-20-2012 07:06 PM

Has anyone tried hardwiring BV?

Might get this one for the other cars. Post up some sample vids when available! Did it come with a memory card?

Is it strong enough to use industrial strength velcro? Can the industrial strength velcro hold the camera? Can you post a picture how does that work on the blackview. Thanks so much.

finevu cr-300hd is also awesome too

FINEVU CR-300HD Full HD 16GB Car Black Box Camera + CPL filter | eBay

Just wondering for those who have the blackvue, do you guys also have the power magic pro?

weitaro 05-21-2012 07:38 PM

Hey guys

I am currently visiting in Taiwan. I saw many dash cams for sale in electronic stores.
I am considering buying them for relatives back in Vancouver.
The price seems to be fair. They have tons of cheap ones here too.

DOD GS600 is around $250
http://link.photo.pchome.com.tw/s08/.../133036035592/

I am gonna visit the electronic shops again.
If you guys want, I can check the local price for you. just give me a name or a link
If it's cheaper, I can help you get it and ship it since I am shipping some back to relatives anyway.

The popular ones here are MIO 238HD
http://www.gohappy.com.tw/images/pro...177037_3_1.jpg
720P HD, G-sensor, comes with screen. Around $170

I guess the Taiwanese brand would be cheaper here.

so far, i can't find a good price on Blackvue DR400G-HD yet...

Keep meaning to but been super lazy about doing it. Why do you ask? It is actually a very simple process.

weitaro 05-21-2012 11:40 PM

I just dropped by two shops and saw these

DOD F880 Full HD 60fps around $140 cdn
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/IMG_4952.jpg
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/IMG_4950.jpg

Grenzel Triangle Waterproof motorcycle use 1080 Full HD, 720 60fps
around $235
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/IMG_4943.jpg
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/IMG_4945.jpg

Vico DS2 - Full HD . G-Sensor F2.0 the guy said this one works really well at night. around $185cdn

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/IMG_4942.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/IMG_4941.jpg

then i saw another one that really caught my eye. this one mounts on the rear view mirror. looks neat and clean behind the mirror. forgot to take picture. here are the pix i found on google.

LTS W5100 has G-sensor, 720HD, around $140cdn
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...fcab50b100.jpg
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...037ff930ff.jpg
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...ff6e473ed1.jpg

The guy showed me couple video clips from LTS W5100 and i was impressed with its quality and sharpness. it adjusts the lighting quickly going in the tunnel. looks great at night.

He also recommended another one called PaPaGo P0.
My friend had that on his GTI and it has trouble turning on in Winter.
For some reason it needs to be warmed up to turn on...so I'd avoid PAPAGO.

Before I left, I saw a cheap one called UB JXD-D1 720HD around $60
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...IMG_4947-1.jpg
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...IMG_4946-1.jpg

So far, I really like the LTS W5100.

^ Check out the Abee v30. Lots of shops are selling that while I was in Taipei last December.
If you are into DOD, get GSE550 instead. The F880LHD is and old 720p model. The GS600 you mentioned earlier is only USD$200 if buying from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/DOD-GS600-Black-Logger-1920x1080/dp/B004Q78QH2

Not exactly sure what part you need help with.

Basically:
1) Mount device where you want it to be
2) Remove A-pillar trim/headliner/door weather trim thingy/whatever else maybe in the way so you can hide the wire and lead it to fuse box
3) Cut cigarette plug portion off
4) Strip/prep wires, either ghetto or with a proper plug
5) Plug into fusebox and ground wire
6) ???
7) Go to truestea and buy TOS'd a BBT

Senna4ever 05-22-2012 11:30 PM

^^^ BBT? I'd buy you a steak dinner!

Shorn 05-22-2012 11:33 PM

You & fd3 can do it for me then :)

CRS 05-23-2012 01:17 AM

There should just be a group hardwiring get together where peeps who know how to do it can teach the peeps who don't know. It should be so much easier that way.

I don't want to know how to do it - I'd rather just pay someone to do it for me. I personally hate working on my car. :p

CRS 05-23-2012 01:49 AM

:lol

Senna4ever, then your car can be the demo where the peeps who know can show the peeps who don't know!

Win-win.

No it did not come with a memory card. There are some videos on youtube but I will post some of my own videos when I get a a chance to grab the memory card from my brother's truck.

The velcro is super strong and it's not easy to take off. It can hold the camera fine and doesn't wiggle when driving over bumps.
