Lexar has been pretty problematic this year, they actually killed off their removable storage side of the business although they were recently bought up by a Chinese company that is bringing it back. These days Transcend and Samsung seem to be more reliable. SanDisk used to be quite problematic but seems like people are having decent luck with the higher capacity ones sold at Costco. Best bang for the buck IMO |
Was given a Garmin DriveAssist 50 for Christmas to replace my current camera. Still getting used to the gps + dashcam in one. Half the size of a regular gps unit and it's kinda nice having the extra features. There's a couple features that I'd need to pay 4.99USD a year to access which isn't so bad but before I do I'm trying to find out if it's worth it. There's one with 10000+ live traffic cams spread out everywhere. Anyone use it? Worth it? Useless? |

I got the Transcend Premium card and have had no issues. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

@Indy, did you get that exact 400x card? |

Sister bought me a cheap dash cam for Xmas. Was talking to my dad on the phone when I spotted this. Then realized I had a dash cam and needed to figure out how to save the video. ha. Success. |

I've been using a Samsung Evo+ (128GB) with no issues for probably the last year now, so that's probably the brand I'd recommend. On an unrelated note, I was thinking about getting a rear cam as well, but I've got a tinted rear window. (i.e. aftermarket applied tint) Does anyone have any ingenious ways to mount a rear facing cam without destroying the tint? |
Are urive and iroad brands any good? A friend is visiting Korea and they have so many more brands than we have locally. I'm looking for a budget cam with good image quality. Being able to change it to English language would be a bonus. |
Looking at picking up a cam right away. Leaning towards a Blackvue DR450 My truck has prewired 'up fitter switches' basically a bank of 6 switches with relays and wires pre run. I would hardwire the camera up to that so I can turn it on and off as necessary, and the switches are also ignition power so they turn off when the truck is off. I don't need parking mode so this works perfectly. So basically, I need a pos and neg wire from the camera, pos wires up to the switched wire and neg to a ground. What wiring kit do I need with the camera? I don't need the Power Magic Pro or anything. Do the cameras come with a pigtail? |
Stuck around and gave the guy my info. Sent him the video as well. G1W dash cam still working great after all these years. |
was at least a solid 5 seconds into his red...guess that's one way to depreciate your new Mazda |
That was in Surrey right? Around 72nd, near the chevron and strawberry hill theaters. |

Although the memory compatibility isnt that advanced and there is no parking mode, but the video quality is pretty bang for buck. My F50 is great for parking mode and all but the video quality isnt as good. |
Anyone with a G1WH having issues of videos skipping time? or like stupid short videos? |
help me assess was about to turn right and was checking for peds on the right when I heard a thud, thinking I scraped my mirror with the adjacent car but when I turned my head left to look, there was plenty of clearance sitting in the black kia soul with Fresh Slice decal was two younger Asian males (teens/early 20s), the passenger laughs, then pull up the window as they're driving off at the time, I assumed they threw something at my vehicle but I was already late for an appt and knew I could reference their plate on the dash cam later dent on the quarter panel (could just be a previous door ding), after work I went back to that intersection and didn't see anything on the ground, it wasn't a coin or a rock, it sounded pretty hefty never seen them before and wasn't driving near them until this intersection, now I'm doubting they actually threw anything and may have just been tapping on my car (seeing how they started signaling after I've already pulled up next to them...and who drives around with hefty objects ready to throw at other cars)...or may be they just can't stand the awful 50 cent music BrokeBack |
I think my blackvue 650S fried my Samsung EVO 128gig SDXC card... files look corrupted and the card cannot be formatted at all. Ive tried partition managers, SDformat, regular Windows Format... nothing. all fails. https://i.imgur.com/xRmN84M.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bjT1Om8.jpg luckily i have a backup LEXAR 64gig 633x but at the highest resolution of 1080p you get a day only. i'll have to find a replacement and reliable dashcam friendly 128gig later. |
I was secretly hopping to smear this daredevil on my bumper/hood |

it makes sense if left in parking mode think how much write cycles it's going through esp a smaller card (128gb is certain sizble though) the fancier dashcams have an auto-format feature...wonder how useful that is if anyone wants an unused Lukas LK-290 voltage cut-off for parking mode let me know...if the research is still up to date it's the only one that doesn't deep cycle your battery (12.4V) https://dashcamtalk.com/battery-discharge-prevention/ |
Anyone know how I should hardwire my cam for constant power if i dont have a hot fuse under my dash? Would power magic pro still work directly on the battery? Or if someone knows a fuse thats hot, its for my em1 sir. |
you've tried them all? I think mine is hooked up to the moonroof or something (dc5) took me a few trial and error because I didn't whip out the voltmeter |
My first claim for the Type R :( ass hole didn't even leave a note. |
