2011 PNE Thread

I know there is a thread already about tips and tricks at playland, but this is for the Annual Fair at the PNE.

This year, kids 13 and under get in free. Not a big deal, really, as students in Elementary traditionally got passes from school every year in June. PNE no longer have to deal with stupid passes. Just let the rug rats in, since they bring in so much money anyway.

This year's free admission day for adults is on Monday, the 22nd, from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon. You get in before the noon deadline, get your hand stamped and you're good to go all day long with in and out privileges.

So, anyone on RS working the PNE?

Gumby 08-09-2011 01:02 PM

I think they increased the general admission rates this year for adults too...

And the dumb thing is that free admission day is traditionally on Saturday. As a result, parents that typically go on that first Saturday with their kids will now have to pay to get in, or they will need to take a day off work to take advantage of that offer! :flamemad:

The old chinese ladies & dudes will go on free admission day no matter what day of the week it is... :troll:

Greedy buggers at PNE...

I have day off on Monday, so it's all good. Less crowds to fight through, although C-Lai's don't work. Also, the first day of the fair was always lame because the exhibiters never had things fully set up. At least Monday, being third day, they will have their shit together. Gotta find the Bingo markers again, LOL.

punkwax 08-09-2011 01:13 PM

Sweet. I happen to have the 22nd off as well.

24th is Vancity day if anyone is interested. $5 admission for adults. I believe you just buy at the front gates.

What are the dates for the PNE this year? I'm within walking distance so might check it out.

MG1 08-09-2011 02:59 PM

Starts on the 20th and goes till September 5th.

Too bad free day isn't Saturday. One More Girl is performing that night.

I'm looking forward to the 1st Annual Rib Festival Competition. I looked on their website, but couldn't find the lumber show or demolition derby - there goes tradition. Actually, demolition hasn't been around for a long time.

The pyro show is back. I enjoyed that last year.

EDIT: Evolution of Extreme looks good. Additional show added for Monday at 11:00 AM - quad races and motorcycle aerials!

You know you're old when PNE rides give you massive headaches. Used to do dangerous stuff on rides like the roller coaster - now looking at it makes me dizzy, LOL.

PNE is expensive for what it is. I haven't been in several years, maybe time to check it out to see if anything's changed.

cressydrift 08-10-2011 04:30 PM

You can also get this at the PNE this year...

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6064/...97c7eb13_b.jpg

Its 25 bucks and you get a pin if you finish it, or so my GF says...

Good appetizer for me.

Not worth the 25 bucks, unless you get it for free for eating it all by yourself.
