does anybody know the legalities of an employer putting microphones in the workplace? I'm not talking about a camera with a mic, I'm talking about a stand alone microphone, unannounced, hidden. obviously I'm not talking about them being in a bathroom either. just out in the general workspace.

In British Columbia, under the "one-party consent" rule, you can legally record conversations you are participating in, even without the other party's knowledge, but recording conversations you are not part of is illegal.

Thanks for all the input! The pizza oven I had in mind is a dual fuel one, just because I thought cooking with wood fire would be fun and enjoyable, but it's interesting to hear that it doesn't make much difference vs gas.

Anyone looking at the new Passport?

Other than the lack of a hybrid it looks great. Right size for me but no hybrid is a dealbreaker.

I'll say that some of the latest off-roady releases have been great looking - the 4Runner, Landcruiser, GX (all Toyotas) - but the Passport sounds like it's great on road too.

AstulzerRZD 04-04-2025 11:17 AM

I think it looks good enough to steal some casual 4Runner sales ... like from my parents.
Lack of hybrid is a huge L because the Passport gets worse fuel economy than a 3.5TT F150.

I suspect the more logical buyer (like my mom) will start asking for an electric version.
After picking up the lightning, she's become a lot more interested in Rivian especially since it has a 3rd row.

I've been all over it since it was announced as our daily driver in Calgary... you've been able to build one on the Honda USA site for like 2+ months now but zilch on Honda Canada.. .an it's build in Arkansas or Alabama I forgot which one so it's fucked for tariffs now, might as well forget about it. That's probably why Honda Canada never put it on the site yet. Especially when you consider that it's below the Pilot, but on the US website it's actually $4k more starting price than the Pilot an gets into the $50K+ range with any options... I would think in Canada even before tariffs it would be in the $65k+ range which is really getting up there.

I liked it precisely because it was just a basic V6 with an actual automatic personally. Don't are for hybrid batteries eating floor space in the back and don't want electric with the climate here for camping.

I've had the '24 Land Cruiser. I'd get that over some unibody Honda

bcrdukes 04-04-2025 01:32 PM

Funny enough, I just drove past a recent model Passport off the 403 being hauled away on a flat bed truck.

After bouncing back and forth between BC & AB, I'm finally peacing out of my condo and being a PR in AB.

As a result, I have some things I can't take with me:

Palliser (Canadian Lazyboy) leather recliner couch
Faux leather armchair recliner
Coffee table with 2 end tables
3 table lamps (2 matching)
L-shaped glass & metal office desk
Platform bed with matching nightstand
24" computer monitor (office)
28" computer gaming monitor
100mm 2,8 canon macro lens
24mm 1.4 Rokinon lens
Bowflex adjustable gym bench
TV Stand
Schwinn Elliptical

Stuff is priced (very cheap).

If you're interested or know someone who would be (this stuff is perfect for a student and / or senior), shoot me a message :)

If it is built in the US, I'd be pretty surprised if it doesn't comply with CUSMA. I am still super confused with how much (Canadian) tariffs it'd be subjected to, but there should be at least a 25% tariff on it for the steel and aluminum. So don't rule it out just yet.

Any of you guys actively camping?

I'm going to start camping overnight for my track days this year after getting tired of driving to/from the Toronto/Mississauga and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Bowmanville, ON) and the hotels in surrounding areas cost more than a night at the Ritz (I'm not making this up.)

I grew up camping with a Coleman naphtha stove but it's been a very long time (20+ years) since I've done any camping, and I have a Boxster, so space is limited. I'm looking to see if you guys have any recommendation on stoves that are small to boil water for coffee and maybe cook a small meal or something.

One thing to keep in mind is that the track is super windy because it's just open air and no buildings, so I need something that can withstand high winds. I don't think I have the luxury of hauling a 10lb propane tank or a large BBQ or table, or anything of that sort in a Boxster, but can make it work if need be. Thanks in advance.

If it's just for making coffee or a single serving of rice or whatever, you can get a folding stove that uses those dim sum stove cartridges instead of the big Coleman ones. Get one with a wind shield
