Collar isn’t a bad choice, same as nape of neck can lift it up and it can’t turn its head to bite you at that point |
I mean the guy who was bit did have 1 of the 2 types of dogs that’s more dangerous than a pit, so I’m surprised it wasn’t a lot more of a dog fight. Not like it helps now, but best thing you can do is grab back legs and pick it up. Fucks up their hips and they can’t bite your arms in that position The pitbull shit talk in here is ignorant though. Most people would call 90% of any of the mutts in the shelter system a pit if they bite and a corgi shepherd Dane greyhound mix if they don’t. When you’re getting bit it’s not easy to react in any certain way though, it fucking hurts and dogs are 10x faster than us. Just hope your dog bites back realistically. A sharpei bit the fuck out of my wife at the dog park and that if my dog didn’t get the dog off, no one was getting the dog off. |
Chihuahuas bite the most people on average, but you don’t see them labeled as a violent or dangerous breed. Like most dog attacks, they are 99.9% survivable. Yeah the damage done by a pit bull could be a lot more than a chi chi but an attack is an attack. My little guys never bit anyone. They’ll bark but never bite. Even if you put your hand on their face they’ll never bite. It’s all related to training and how they were brought up. |

Aggression is obviously a common trait among these breeds, without a doubt. I’ve never been afraid or concerned about a golden retriever, are there bad ones out there? Absolutely. But they have a demeanour common among the bread that is easy going and relaxed. |
I’ve volunteered with a pitbull rescue for a bit doing the occasional transport for dogs to vets or vets to fosters. The dogs were all great, even those with some pretty shitty stories. My last dog was a pitbull shepherd and the only time he ever bit another dog was the time mentioned, which was pretty well exactly what he should have done. Current dog is a pit/husky (supposedly) and again if she was to ever bite someone she’s a pit and if she’s good she’s a husky. She’s the easiest dog in the world to deal with. Never ignores a command, can get swarmed by kids and just rolls over for scratches. Dogs have different personalities like people. |
No way. She won’t even bite my Kraut Neighbor , she just barks at him and even then it’s only a few barks and then she’s okay. She’s a fiery Latina, she needs to say her piece. |

Unfortunately the kind of people who usually buy pitbulls are trash humans who buy them because of the bad motherfucker stigma associated with them. These dogs are a product of their environment. If you knew a guy with a shitty pitbull, then you also knew a shitty owner. |

According to.. dog bites.org pit bulls are by far the worst offenders for both severity and frequency… https://www.dogsbite.org/dog-bite-st...statistics.php Quote:
284 fatalities from pit bull attacks in a 20 year period with Roweilers coming in at second with a measly 45. The data is the same wherever you look. Can say whatever you want about the owner, if you’ve got young kids and have pit bull as a pet, you’re a fool. Maybe all pit bull owners are “bad” because they are dumb enough to choose this breed as a pet? |
Well of course, cuz if they do happen to snap and bite a kid, it’s quite serious… no one going to the hospital or news if a shihtzu goes berserk but I’m sure they do all the time. My Maltese or my Jack Russell/chihuahua cross get angry and bitey I just laugh. |
Well yea.. if a Chihuahua is latched onto my arm I could crush its head in one go. With that said, there are hundreds of medium/large sized breeds that aren’t killing people. It’s not just some dirtball brother etc. I knew who had a “bad” dog like out in dog parks, on beaches etc. consistently overly aggressive towards other dogs, hard to control etc. |
Oh yeah dogsbite.org, the website started by a person trying to get the breed banned in the US. There’s no point in having a conversation with you about anything anymore. You always have the answer “oh this is my experience and it’s the only one.” Your whole existence is being mad at shit because of something you read on the internet how’s someone going to convince you otherwise. You don’t know how the stats work. You don’t understand correlation isn’t causation. The most common dogs in the shelter system are labelled as pit bulls, whether they are or not. Not Rottweilers, or even close to that. The most common dogs in abusive situations are labelled as pitbull, whether they are or not. Of course if they are the most common dogs to be put in that situation they will be the most common serious bites. It’s all just partial information for people like you that want to make a point without proper information. But yeah I’m endangering my kid everyday with my dog. Fuckin idiot. |
My fave kind of Pitbull Can we start submitting tunes to be dropped at the Sept 24 meet? |
Most common breed of dog causing fatalities in Canada is huskies, followed by Rottweilers, followed by unknown mixed breeds, followed by pitbulls then add labs and collies into the mix. Common factors are that they were almost always in packs, almost always outdoor dogs, and almost always in remote areas. |

They are a shit breed, period. And people who own them are typically shitty owners, a perfect combo. There is a difference between some mutt mixed breed and a dog who resembles a bully breed with all the typical characteristics, which are generally the dogs involved in these incidents. I’m sure all the city wide bans on bully breeds all over North America are just a smear campaign. |
You don't have a dog or a kid man. You don't know shit about either, like most things you have a strong opinion on. Same thing was the case with whatever "tough guy dog" was the chosen breed at any given time whether it was German shepherds, or dobermans, or rottis. Again, the stats in CANADA where you live even though you don't want to, says that huskies are the most common dogs involved, maybe it's because they are the most common LARGE dogs put in dangerous situations. Don't acknowledge that though and just double down on your shitty opinions like usual though. |
Had 4 different dogs growing up over a span of what, 25 years? I’d say im pretty experienced with having a dog around and generally we had two dogs overlapping at once. In regards to your above post about Huskies, yea we also had a husky, a Siberian, and he was probably the worst dog of the 4 we had. Another breed I likely wouldn’t have around children. Animals are animals. Unless you’re ceasar Milan, most people aren’t going to train habits out of bad dogs. Yea the single mom with the rescued pitbull is surely going to be the owner to turn this dog around lol.. |
My dog is 3 years old, I'll bet you 10k she never bites anyone through the course of her life (outside of someone attacking me or my family.) Thats a solid 7-9 years you've got to make that money. Sounds like it's a guarantee so you should take that. You've even got double the odds since she's the 2 worst breeds apparently. |
End of the day any dog, no matter the temperament or training can snap and bite when triggered. I'll rather get bitten by a maltese than a pitbull. There's a reason why condo stratas ban pitbulls and home insurance either refuse or hike the premiums if your dog falls under the dangerous breeds. All data driven. Montreal or Quebec banned pitbulls as well. |

But the majority of severe bites, are caused by the same dogs. |
That’s just stating the obvious though isn’t it? Of course big dogs do all the severe biting lol… Did you expect a different result? It still comes down to shitty owners and shitty training. People are fucking weird with dogs sometimes, some owners treat them like family and I’ve known really nice generous caring people that regard dogs as only animals and they stay outside not allowed in the house or they do aggressive training maneuvers that make me cringe… those are the dogs I worry about that “have enough” one day and snap. And unfortunately a lot of genuinely shitty people think it’s cool or alpha male to have a huge dog and they fuck around with them playing mental games or mean tricks or laughing / bullying the dog cuz they finally found something stupider than themselves mentally they can take advantage of and no surprise the dog is an asshole too after awhile. |
Watching West become more and more snippy and agitated with each post at Honda over pitbulls has been oddly amusing to watch :lol |
