Vancouver Off-Topic / Current EventsThe off-topic forum for Vancouver, funnies, non-auto centered discussions, WORK SAFE. While the rules are more relaxed here, there are still rules. Please refer to sticky thread in this forum.
Every man should be in a group chat with a bunch of buddies where they can talk about the shitty stuff in life - work sucks, my wife is nuts, doctor says I'm gonna die, I'm sad etc - and be given support for it (and then subsequently be razzed over and over again about it)
A few years back I got fired from my job (I, as a VP, very undiplomatically and publicly called bullshit about some culture stuff that the head of HR really cared about and it turned out she was dating the CEO) - two of the guys in my group chat go on Cameo and hired William Hung to record a video for me to console me.
pssshhh my manwhore is limited to 10-15 girls max... ive been suffering from singlepussyitius for the past 17 years and it doesnt seem to be going away. ill probably die from this debilitating disease my bros.

Just a thought but if you were a centaur wouldn't it be way cooler to have your junk hang out in front instead of in the back? But then you'd probably only have a human size dick rather than a horse cock.
I just realized the a centaur isn't actually half human - half horse, as you'd assume.
It's 2/3 human, 7/8 horse: you're replacing the horse's head, with a whole dude from the waist up. Seems kind of OP.

Why not both! If you're gonna weld two mammals together, what's so far-fetched about having double-dicks!!

Joking aside, I do feel like the things people have shared on here are likely things they haven't actually shared with their own friends/family IRL. Perhaps its the partial anonymity of being online and posting from the comfort of your own home/phone/toilet/what have you, but it's actually nice to see the real, solid, logical and often direct advice people will offer to someone they hardly know via this forum.
Former part time Surrey longshoreman on the Tonight show. Pretty good for a dude who moved from India to live with his sisters and aunt/uncle when his parents died.
Kpop sucks already ! Ipop would cause me to have an aneurysm
We're goin' up, up, up
It's our moment
You know together we're glowing
Gonna be, gonna be golden

Thanks for the input. I feel you guys are right, I always seem to get too involved with peoples lives. He hasn't told me about his condition so he's either ashamed to tell me or he doesn't want to tell me.
I'm going to see him on Wednesday night actually, my other buddy has a check engine light on his 2004 X3 so it's just an excuse to all hang out. I don't know sh*t about cars, but I like to hang around. I can't imaging he'll bring it up then, but the most i'll do is just ask him how things are going and leave it at that.
Even if he tells me, I still wouldn't know what to tell the guy. I think alcoholics know they shouldn't be drinking.
He has two young boys, four and one. So there is definitely some incentive to stop drinking, but like some of you said, gambling and alcohol is a tough vice to get rid of.
Just an update.
We didn't discuss the situation at all, there didn't seem to be an appropriate time to insert the question without being awkward as we were just hanging out. He didn't bring his health up, so that was that.
Regarding the check engine light, it was a coil misfire, so he changed that out and all is well.
Has anyone had to navigate the "Mom/Dad, I think you need to talk to your doctor b/c I think you have dementia?" conversation with their parents (and your siblings)? My dad is showing clear signs of dementia (has been for years) and he has refused all the requests my mom has made to him to get help and it's time for me (and my brother) to step in.
I've spoken my own family doctor about what's happening and have read up on all the symptoms and the process etc but getting my mom and my brother to take concrete steps to move this forward has been challenging.
My mom's having a really hard time with this - they been married for over 50 years and she's bearing the burden of living with the effects of my dad's increasing impairment but she's not willing to force the issue with him (as a result she's increasingly isolating herself from her friends and family). I've told her she needs to start documenting every incident that's happening (his memory loss, his unstable emotions etc) so we can have a convo with the doctor with some evidence.
My brother, OTOH, is just avoiding the issue - I can't get him to read up and understand what's happening and address it. He'd just rather avoid my dad.
As for me, I don't have the best of relationships with my dad and I need to find ways to have this conversation with him that doesn't become antagonistic quickly - I know I need him to come to terms with it through his own recognition of the problem rather than me dropping the hammer on him.
I'm mostly curious how it went for you, what was surprising, what was really hard, where are things at etc. Did you also make other preparations (For example, I've advised my mom to get a power of attorney setup that directs things to me rather than my dad) (Is this where I DM PeanutButter for his advice?)
My mom side has a history of Alzheimer’s. I’ve told her time and time again to see a shrink but she always says I’m the crazy one. I reminded her that her mom was in the hospital for years not being able to remember anyone, do you really wanna go down that route ? Same with her sisters in China. All retarded.
Nope. Just brushes me off while getting weirder and more retarded every year. Whatever. If you don’t want help, don’t except me to give a shit. Only so much I can do.
