I've had a similar situation happen in the past with my beater, so now every car I have has a dash cam, even if it's a shit box for scenarios like this. Looks like it'll be a write-off. |

Poor Corolla !!!! |
Watch out, folks! Accused in London, Ont. bomb-making scheme face new charges of manufacturing firearms What are a bunch of Chinese kids building bombs for? |

Door, fender, mirrors will need replacing. Bumper looks ok for the most part (some surface damage, clips detached presumably from fender damage). This assumes only cosmetic repairs needed. Not sure if that part of the frame is fixable above the wheel. I imagine around $6000-6500 if done out of pocket, but through ICBC it's more likely that it'll get written off for what looks like an older Corolla. |
its a ratrolla... so probably 4k if you take it to a ching chong place. Dime a dozen parts, mostly not OEM parts or used parts. 2 coat paint (1 primer, 1 color) It'll be cheap. |
Not to mention, there are probably a tonne of spare parts sitting within the province's wreckers so ICBC can just pull a part and swap it out. My bet is this Corolla will live on. |
If you're interested in the space launch, this CBC interview with the Canadian astronaut going on the trip is really, really good. He talks about what kind of training they go through. And talks about having to prepare for the possiblity he doesn't come back alive, and how he prepares his family for that possibility too. Oof. |
Welp launch delayed by a month. |

I guess it's possible they were working on scale model rockets for some kind of engineering capstone project (relatively unsupervised), and unfortunately it'd be a lot of overlap with what you'd make bombs out of. I hope that wasn't the case because it'd be really sad to be going through criminal proceedings for something well-intended. I'd blame the school for not checking in more often to make sure nobody's doing stupid shit. Back in school we had people working on a project to do data communication through mains power. Technically fine, but totally stupid to fk around with. That was quickly shut down lol. |
-speaking of teens, I just read about the stabbing on Monday, February 2nd after a high school basketball game. One teen got a big stab in his arm. -rushed to hospital for surgery. Another teen was injured by another teen using a bike lock. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...bing-9.7073068 Killarney beat Eric Hamber at Hamber high school 97-95 in triple OT. Apparently, the game had playoff implications. VPD are going to put police officers at playoff basketball games in high school? An 18-year-old was stabbed in the arm following a heated high school basketball game in Vancouver on Monday night, according to police. "During one of those fights, an 18-year-old boy was stabbed, sustained serious injuries to his arm," he told a news conference. "He was taken to hospital, I believe. My understanding is he underwent a surgery or significant medical treatment at hospital and is recovering." Addison said that a suspect hasn't yet been arrested in the case, and they're aware of at least one other victim who was likely hit with a bike lock. "It would be premature to say how many people may be responsible for crimes that occurred during a fight like that," he said. Police are asking anyone with more information on the case to call them, and submit any video they have of the fight via their website. Addison said there was understandably a lot of concern from Vancouver parents, and said police will assign extra school liaison officers to both schools for the rest of the week. Vancouver police say they were called out just before 9:10 p.m. PT to Eric Hamber Secondary School, after a game between Hamber and Killarney Secondary. Police spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison said there were a number of fights that broke out between spectators at the important game, which had playoff implications for both teams. |

Joking aside, as I recently got my research ethics approved by the university, I've been doing on-site data collection at my host organization for my capstone project. And as you said, it's mostly unsupervised. If I end up on the news and in jail, trust that my research was well intended for the benefit of Canadian small business development and economic prosperity for Canada, irrespective of political parties (Pay your taxes, bitches!) :alone: |
Whoa damn... that looks pretty messy... Reminded me of the Cobra Kai group fight in what... the season 2 finale episode? If I were a kid there, I think I'd most likely be curious to stand around and watch the fight as well LOL~ |
What a bunch of wimps. This was table stakes at Van Tech. :troll: I wish I made this up but back in the day, a parent showed up to pick up one of our classmates and just so happened to get into a scrap with another kid. The parent egged their kid on to beat the other kid up and to "finish him" (not kidding). VPD showed up. Unsure if the parent was charged or not. |

What is with some high school students this week??? First the stabbing on Monday night after a high school basketball game at Eric Hamber. Next, we have multiple schools in Coquitlam under lock down. Somebody called schools to make threats. https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2026/0...honed-threats/ The Coquitlam RCMP has put multiple schools in Coquitlam on hold-and-secure after those schools received alleged phoned-in threats on Wednesday afternoon. Police say the measures are being put in place out of an abundance of caution to keep students, staff, and teachers safe. Officers responded to the threats shortly after 12:25 p.m. and remain on scene. “A hold-and-secure involves keeping students in their classrooms to allow staff and, in this case, the RCMP, ensure the school is safe,” assistant director Ken Hoff of School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) said in a written statement. The district says that local businesses in the area also received similar threats. |
Typical Killarney activities. It was like that all the time 15 years ago anyway, wouldn't have been newsworthy then lol. 10 years ago or smt McMath had a threat posted onto their WiFi networks LOL. All the access points were renamed to anti-semantic / other racist violent threats. https://globalnews.ca/news/3489671/r...d-high-school/ |
