Today i learned UK uses yellow box junctions in some areas.
Stop in the yellow box x seconds past a red, get fined xxx$.
I wish we had these here, at all intersections. No reason why 1 car being selfish, blocks 20-60 cars that are about to start moving in the opposite direction

How do they fine you? I assume camera?
They have something like this here in Toronto that was recently introduced in the downtown core, but I'm unsure of how they properly enforce punishment or deterence on jerkbags who sit in the intersection for their own benefit.

was driving the kids to school last week, fire truck driving through busy intersection in e.van rush hour that was heavily backed up/congested, he had to pause a bit to ensure the intersection was safe/clear, then out of now where some dip shit hs girl just casually walks in front of the fire truck nonchalant/slow (i assume b/c they had a pedestrian walk???)
mind you this is with the fire truck sirens/lights blasting. fireman was then laying in on the fire truck horn so the girl would stop or hurry the fuck out the way, and girl did not react, as if she was deaf, kept walking her stride nice and slow as if the world paused for her. i had to look over to see if she was special needs or something due to the behaviour. fuck is wrong with kids these days.

do you guys still go from city to city when you go to a country or do you stay put in one place for like a few weeks?
i went to taiwan and went to 4 cities plus several day and overnight excursions and just felt drained... transportation was always easy never had to fly anywhere just took trains, so at least that was great, didn't waste tons of time.
some days we'd take like an hour bus and train to go somewhere then just be tired the whole time and disinterested in the place, then an hour back to the hotel.. most of a day spent just tiring ourselves out and not really enjoying much.
of course there were like a half dozen times that were really memorable and i wouldnt trade for anything, but now that i think of what those times were they were always the quiet moments like waking up for a sunrise, taking pictures of a sunset, going for walks with friends we knew, etc...
all the hustle and bustle stuff, just no energy for it anymore.
im looking forward to when im semi retired or something and can rent a place for like a month or two and just stay put the entire time, buy groceries, cook, go to the gym, and basically live like a local with no pressure to maximize every day with sightseeing, going an hour across town just to go to a restaurant, come home to rest and then go out again.
dealing with all the work emails, missed calls, texts, confusion, etc... when i come back is a whole nother thing.. | Maybe you're reaching the same point in life I hit a few years ago.
Vacations for me used to be about maximum value for dollars spent. See as much as possible in the time available to you. Go go go. I was young and I had energy.
I look at vacations very differently now. It's about taking it easy, no stress, and doing as little as possible. Just take the opportunity to enjoy life.
We'll go to mexico and stay 100% of the time at the resort and never leave. I used to be like "yeah but let's go see the city, or let's do some experiences" and now i'm perfectly happy sitting by the pool being served pina coladas all day.
I also never thought I'd be a "cruise" person but I love them. Once again, you can do whatever you want, call your own shots, and people wait on you hand and foot. Port stops show you a quick highlight without the stress of having to plan your own shit. They are great.
And if I were to visit a big city now, like say NYC, i'm happy to just stroll a few neighbourhoods, sit at a cafe and people watch. Last thing I'd want to do is fight crowds at big tourist attractions. That was me 10 years ago but not now. The only research I'd do ahead of time is picking out some great restaurants and book some resos.

^The other thing is that you have changed.
As you get older the same things that brought excitement when younger don't in the same way anymore. I've been on so many damn vacations and trips, I remember the build up in your 20s, you'd be counting down the days months in advance, nowadays I rarely even get excited the week prior.
The same goes with cars, we all remember our first brand new car that wasn't a shitbox, you loved that fucking thing, washed it weekly, took pictures, you name it. You probably still reminisce about that car longingly.
I get a new car now, ya it's cool, I'll like it for a bit, a few months in, I'm already bored, wondering what's wrong with me.

nothing wrong, modern cars suck. There are only a handful worth buying that I can think of, and even then, I wouldn't buy them, as most are overpriced.

. | I'm the same, I started a daily gratitude journal and it helped me pinpoint smaller things to appreciate the good life we have.
The saddest thing about getting older is losing the excitement of experiencing things for the first time.
Cars are dead for me in the past 2-3 years, driven everything I dreamed of buying and did the whole JDM combo in Japan. Nothing is more fun than the S2000 for a sub $80K city car though.

You could visit the UK, but not London. Try Edinburgh. Local pubs, live music. Maybe head over to Skye for whisky tasting (although that can get touristy). I know a guy right now on holiday in the Cotswolds (same area where Clarksons Farm is) and he's chilling in an AirBnb living the small town life.

Suck it bitches. Nanaimo ranked the second best city in Canada and ranked 65th in the world with Ottawa being number 1. https://www.narcity.com/best-cities-...f-life-ranking https://www.numbeo.com/quality-of-life/rankings.jsp
Im shocked we are ranked so high. Who knows how they make up this list.

I dunno, I think Nanaimo is beautiful outside of the downtown core. Hammond Bay, North Slope.
Nice acreages west of HWY19 along Jingle Pot, Meadow Drive, etc.
The best thing is that you can have your 10-30acres, and still be a 15minute drive from any city amenities.

How is a voice quality when you speak on Teams/Zoom? The Jabra is quite good but as you mentioned, it picks up WAY too much background noise, even with software settings enabled. | For Teams and Zoom, did you enable the extra voice isolation where you had to read it some sentences?
The noise isolation is way better than the standard if you do this.
If you want a new pair of headphones that isn't Jabra,
Bose QC and QC Ultra are actually worse than the older NC700 that came before it for mic isolation, I paid ~$150 for new old stock NC700.
Sony XM6 is ever so slightly better than NC700 in isolation but it has way better audio quality when using the mic over bluetooth: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/re...00xm6#test_377 https://www.rtings.com/headphones/re...eless#test_377

We won a set of Sony ULT headphones from a contest recently, and man, it's mic is so bad, you can't hear squat! I know they are not the same as the higher end models, but free has its downsides too hahaha

If you're already using the trained voice isolation model with a Jabra that's got a boom mic, the only thing left to try is Nvidia RTX voice if you have a computer that supports it.
If you're looking for a cheaper set of headphones, I'd get the couple years old NC700.
I've got em for loud office use and their mic is fantastic... but at home I'd just get a gaming looking headset with a boom mic that I'd sound extra good on.
