I saw it on CBC. Executive summary - lab diamonds of comparable clarity, cut, brightness, etc. can vary from $250 to $1700. They bought one from Aliexpress ($250). One from a diamond distributor ($1700), pros cannot tell difference. Use your discretion, do your research.

Yah, the thing is if chic finds out you paid $250 ... instantly, she thinks you're cheap. So you have to spend like $3-5K on something that should at most cost like $500.

Went to Lansdowne today for a few things. Paid a quick visit to Cotti Coffee to see what they have available. It's a 20% off of drinks for their grand opening but their staff are slow as fuck and you can tell none of them are hustling to get orders out the door quickly. There was a pretty big group of customers all waiting and complaining while workers were just going along at casual speed. Kind of pissed me off lol. I was short on time so I didn't bother ordering anything.
Before that, I paid a visit to Vegas Vacations. I was hoping to take a photo in front of the store as a joke but to my surprise their doors were open. Just by chance, there was a customer there and you could tell he was upset. He kicked the glass door, yelled at some lady working there. Walked in, kicked the desk, yelled some more. Later on, sat down and continued yelling. Sign on the door indicates they are only open to deal with existing customers. Man, I do not envy anyone who works at that shit show right now  | |

| i think b/c people don't really know what you're buying they go with what norms are b/c none of it makes sense. especially young people in their 20's that don't know any better. how do you value a rock on a ring that you can't eat, can't sleep in, can drive, etc. it just exists (and quite often hidden away in a box somewhere).
it's like a story an engineer told me: in china, a guy had a product and sold it at a great reasonable price at $20. sold nothing and was about to go bankrupt. then he thought about it, relisted it at $200, and it started selling as hot cakes.
