hey i just tried to pay my fees online but they dont seem to take credit cards. Do i have to actaully go to ubc to pay.

dyan 08-29-2012 10:30 AM

Nope they don't take credit. It's either bank transfer or cash

JayEch 08-29-2012 10:32 AM

not even if i go on campus? dafuq we not all rich lol.

Is there anywhere else i can pay my fees. downtown campus?

GGnoRE 08-29-2012 10:36 AM

They don't accept cash at Brock Hall because they have no safe (plus a bunch of security guards) to store them. They only accept cheques, money orders etc... As for credit, they won't accept it in person either.

You can go to HSBC near UBC and maybe pay with credit card towards your tuition?

I just use my online banking to pay UBC. Seems to be the most convenient.

Spectre_Cdn 08-29-2012 10:54 AM

They used to accept credit cards for tuition payment, up until a few years ago. The reason the school stopped was something along the lines of being able to save a million dollars in transaction processing fees.

JayEch 08-29-2012 11:22 AM

ohh thats stupid. sighh. guess ill be going ubc today with a cheque in hand.

JayEch 08-29-2012 09:01 PM

Imagine day is on the 4th. Anyone going? Im in third year and not sure if i should or not. First semester at UBC and already know where all my classes are. So not really compelled to go.

Anyways just to make sure there are no classes on the 4th right?

FYI Classes after 5PM (which only takes place once a week) are not part of Imagine day. You need to go them.

kb 08-29-2012 11:43 PM

Sweet jesus, totally forgot I don't have to go to classes since its imagine day on the 4th :awwyeah:

so i don't need math? :alonehappy:
i'm doing english 12, economics 12, physics 12, and bio 12 if that's the case and maybe history 12 as a backup
what was your average going in?

instantneedles 08-30-2012 10:29 PM

jc95, ill just answer ur pm here...

back when i applied it was exactly what dygital said except for the history, economics, law or language...

the deal is that, as long as ur grades are decent, 88% and above, you should be fine in terms of your academic portion.

And like all the other faculties, you have to show that you are a committed person and that you dedicate yourself to extracurricular activities outside of school to demonstrate your merit as a whole...

good luck man, not everyone is interested in going into kin like forestry and dental hygiene, so props to you for your interest

double0seven 08-30-2012 10:42 PM

Aw man.. Gotta head down to ubc to hand in assignment due on the 4th LOL.. :okay: So much for no school on imagine day

GGnoRE 08-30-2012 10:48 PM

I guess you guys don't really attend the department info sessions on Imagine day?

I found them to be pretty informative in my experience. At least better than staying home and doing nothing lol

instantneedles 08-30-2012 11:10 PM

It's free bbq and I believe free beers lol. I went when I was in second year and that's how they welcomed us. Not sure how it worked last year since I wasnt there. But I'm pretty sure anyone can stop by and grab something since its first day and its all new faces :fullofwin:

I know some other departments having free bbq too but don't think theyre giving free beers haha. I could be wrong though for this year.
