You have a long and challenging road ahead.

Good luck I'm rooting for you!

MeowMeow 08-21-2012 07:59 PM

Thanks broskies!

Zoidberg 08-21-2012 08:25 PM

I want to ask everyone this question before contacting the Undergraduate offices:

I'm going into third year Commerce (Accounting) and am currently registered in five CORE courses. I want to drop one (COMM 390 - Business Writing) and take it in the summer with is from May 7 to the end of July. Will this allow me to get promoted to year four or will the course be completed too late?

Thanks!

Energy 08-21-2012 08:27 PM

Yup. Just make sure its available during the summer and you should be good.

Yeah all the sushi places near ubc are ridiculously expensive and taste like shit overall..

I remember eating an alaska roll with tempura only on the end pieces of the sushi roll.
they made those pieces extra big to make it seem like a good deal too. Dem cheap bastards

Thank you! I'm just worried because that course is a "MUST" to take in order to be promoted to fourth year.

Energy 08-22-2012 12:47 AM

No problem. The academic year is from Sept to Aug so you can finish whatever courses you need for the next year within that time.

im scared about the jump from high-school to university X_X please help, how were all of you in my situation?

MeowMeow 08-22-2012 01:30 AM

I didn't have any friends when I first went to uni
Joined lots of clubs. Went to lot of frat parties
But at the end my current BFF is someone I met randomly outside of a frat house LOL
Dont worry dude. Everything will be fine at the end

I'm worried about the intense workload i hear from many people saying "high school to university ia such huge leaps forwards", and finding and getting to classes on time.

If you want to transfer to Sauder, then the workload will be intense. Much harder than getting into Sauder straight from highschool. I've seen a lot of people who couldn't get into Sauder from highschool say they want/will transfer into Sauder later but most of them don't make it in the end. I don't want to discourage you, but please be prepared to work your ass off. Good luck.

Since you were smart enough to get into UBC, this won't be an issue at all.

Thanks man, i really appreciate the heads up, i will definitely work my ass off!!!

GGnoRE 08-22-2012 09:28 AM

No worries. Don't overthink too many things. The transition is more natural than you think.

If you've got more things you're curious about, keep posting them here. A lot of people here have good info.

Don't over think it. Try to enjoy yourself and meet new people. But also remember to keep your marks up. And if you want sauder then make sure you end up having a strong supplemental application which means good marks and good extracurriculars. Apparently they place a high value on leadership ability so when writing the supplemental app try to focus on that?

And if you don't get in... It's just sauder no big deal. Many people say they want to get in but few actually make it in the end.

Thank you all for the amazing comments and posts, wish me luck!!! And ill definitely post up more often on this thread about anything unclear -cheers
