when i was in highschool a lot of my friends worked at the mcdonalds warehouse and they made pretty good coin for highschool. The hours are flexible and i believe its open 24/7 so it will fit into your school schedule.

you have to be pretty fit to work there tho... they declined me because i was fat without calling me fat. lol.

everyone of us already work in a pyramid scheme :suspicious:

kluk 10-21-2011 12:07 AM

I've worked at so many places when i was in high school..I don't think i ever stayed at one particular position for more than 6 months lol.

-Kin's farm (first job and the worst fucking job ever) I was a stock boy and the pay was shit but hey i gotta start somewhere..

-Sportchek (SO FUN) Pay was decent, hours were great, staff were great too

-Shoppers drug mart (stock person)

-Staples (Sales)

-Futureshop (Sales)

For most of you between 15-17 you're gonna have to work as a stock boy or do sales...Once you hit 18 you're exposed to so many more opportunities given that your resume isn't blank/shitty lol

Everyone has to start somewhere. I was washing dishes at the place my dad was managing. It was a dirty job but it was job experience

Walperstyle 11-02-2011 01:08 AM

Move to alberta, work the rigs, make $5000+ a month.

I should have done that when I got out of highschool. I was late. I'm 30 right now and looking to get out of this industry.

dr.funk 11-02-2011 11:36 AM

I heard the turnover rate on the rigs are crazy high

It is. If you don't have thick skin... don't bother. 80% of vancouverites will never make it on the rigs....If you got thick skin, not a minority, then you may have some sucess.
You only make good money because they work you to the bones... crazy amounts of OT without having anywhere to spend it on besides whores, drugs and booze....if you can keep ur shit straight, you'll some decent change.

PornMaster 11-02-2011 03:09 PM

i had to go on a family vacation which lasted 2 months. To be fair I quit so Sport chek could hire one of my high school friends. When i came back i wasn't really job searching but just handing out resumes here and there to see if ill get anything. Shoppers was the first job i had that made me deal with cash (a good experience to have when you're young). The next couple jobs i had dealt with a lot of cash (bank) so you never know. Experience is experience. Management was great at shoppers so that definitely made it less boring.

Any advice on how to get work on the rigs? I have a cousin who was studying finance and got tired of it and went to the rigs for 2 years and now he's the youngest in my family of our generation with a house :fuckyea:

V4NC1TY 11-06-2011 11:38 AM

McDonald's is shit ... I'm actually glad they didn't call me when I applied 2 years ago

One of my friends worked @ the one in International Village, and he said it sucked ass
... not to mention it's by Hastings. There are a lot of fucked up people there
it's embarrassing to work at McDonald's imo

Do you like doing retail? If not, I'd stick to Tim Hortons.

McDix is just a minimum wage job. They hire anyone regardless of experience or education. What do you expect when you apply for mcdonalds? It's embarrassing? Who gives a shit where you work when you're a teenager. Did you know McDonalds is the top 100 places to work? That's because they get you to work every position which transfers well to other jobs. Most employers will hire you if they see McDonald's on your resume.

Yeye, got my orientation for metrotown mcd's on monday.

LOL, mcd's is good starting, very few places gonna hire you, and ye it can be embarassing but who cares, as long as the cash is rolling in... :fullofwin:
probably younger than everyone here..
