This summer sounds like it is going to hurt if they go ahead with their plan.

Gas prices are getting crazy! I'm gonna see how much it costs to fill up in the states but I don't think they have 94 octane at Blaine, Chevron. Do they have 94? Haven't been there in a while. Can't remember.

Only the gas that's inside your vehicle's gas tank is not subject to duties/taxes.

everythings subject to taxes but since they don't wanna waste their time taxing everyone they usually have a general rule of thumb they follow. Whenever I've made a $100-$150 pick up from PR, they've waved me through. That's $12 - $18 tax (12% HST on all goods).

In vancouver, our gas tax is: $0.45697/L (GST + PST + 15¢ Transit Tax. Includes carbon tax of 5.56 ¢/L as of July 1, 2011). Assuming gas is $1/liter in the states, you can bring anywhere between 26 liters to 39 liters without them really saying anything ... but I'm not 100% sure the border guards would charge municipal taxes .. but a 25L jerry can should definitely be okay by my math and experience with PR border guards.

Oops, I meant 87 octane........

BTW, thanks for pointing that out, Jayboogz, although I don't think I deserve a fail for it. Good to know there are people like you who fail for shit like that.

Went across the border again today. The line up was pretty long. Unusual for a Tuesday. Anyway, only two lanes were open at the time. Then as I get closer, they open up another two lanes. I suddenly had some choices. Dude ahead of me switches over to a longer line. Weird, I thought. So I go into the line that just got vacated. I get to the booth and border guard asks me where I am going. Typical question, so I point to the gas station (it's that close) and say Tesoro's Gas. He asks, "Where is Tesoro's Gas?" I point again and say USA Gas is Tesoro's Gas. He then asked who's car I'm driving. I tell him it's mine. He then asks how long I've had it. I told him year and a half. Then, he asks for the registration papers. I search the glove compartment for it and can't find it. I remembered I have it under the rear seat compartment. I start to take my seatbelt off. He stops me and tells me to give him the keys. By this time, I'm like WTF?

Now I see why the driver ahead of me switched lanes. This guy must be one of those dickhead border guards we hear about. He opens the rear door and starts to look for the papers. I tell him to lift the seat and the compartment is under the seat. He starts to yank at the cover. I tell him to turn the knobs to release the cover. He gives up and just slams the seat down. He then opens the hatch and starts to knock on the rear quarter panels and all the doors. He then asks me where I work. I told him I am semi retired. He asks what that meant. A dozen questions later, to which I answered all of them within seconds, he gave me back the passport. Not once did he freak me out. Not once did I stutter. He must have thought I was too smooth. I was about to ask him a few questions of my own, but decided not to since he was in charge and had a gun, LOL. I was going to ask him how big his cock was, because I thought it was about 5 foot 11 inches today.

I drive across the street to Tesoro's Gas and fill up tank and one jerry can. I felt like giving the bastard, who I could see from the gas station, the finger.........

Going across the border back into Canada, I'm behind this one car that's taking some time to get through. I'm thinking, jeebuz, this is not my day. I can see through the venetian blinds the border guard picking up the phone and talking for quite some time. Car ahead finally gets waved through. My turn! Turns out border guard is this cute blonde in her mid to late twenties. Short, sassy hair......... hmmm. I strike up a conversation. We start to talk about how the prices have shot up today, blah, blah, blah. After a couple of minutes, I got her laughing and she just gave the passport back to me and gave me a cute girly wave. One of those typing fingers wave.

Such a difference between the two experiences.

BTW, the gas price as I got to the station was $3.79 / Gallon. Attendant was changing the prices on the sign outside. He already had a 4 up there, so I quickly went to another pump with the jerry can while the car was filling up. Got all of it for the old price. When finished, the price for regular 78 octane gas was at $4.03 / gallon.

^usually the dick guards are on the way back into Canada, the ones I get going into the US are usually chill or entertaining.

And you just can't get your octane #'s right for the life of you...

Did that on purpose to see if the other 5 foot something fails me again, LOL.

I was thinking of putting in a number that was really obvious, like 66, but decided to pull the dyslexic card, instead.

I guess the border guard situation at the Sumas crossing is reversed. I prefer it that way, since I'm bringing the gas back to Canada.

thats why I always tell people when going over the borders,

step

1) find the a border guard thats the same race as you
2) if possible try and get the opposite sex

you will get through everytime with no problems.

+2, Filipino border guards (CBSA or CBP), almost always take it easy on me and my family, and the last time one even joked a bit since we were carrying Timmies across.

+1 there's a US border guard at truck crossing with same last name as mine. We always end up with and went on our ways.
