Gas in jerry cans has always been subject to tax. It's just a matter of them finding it worthwhile to tax your 1 jerry can (or 6 in some people's cases). Just like how we can usually bring back $100-200 of stuff per person on a day trip even though the official exemption is $0.

Gas was 3.97 when we were in Burlington last week; cheaper than Tulalip and Bellingham.

Always knew there was tax on gas. Just mentioned it because they've never said anything before. I bring back one jerry can each time, because other border guards were telling me one jerry can is no big deal.

You didn't get taxed though right? Sounds like she was just giving you a courtesy warning, maybe she was a noob. Your other guards were seasoned slackers?

Maybe you just didn't sweet talk her enough.

No, I wasn't taxed. Anyway, the last thing I want is to be flagged, for whatever reason. Some border gurads can be complete assholes/bitches. I was too tired to sweet talk anybody this morning. She was not what you call, attractive, either. I guess she was friendly enough, but very business like.

As for her being a noob, I doubt it. She was like in her mid to late forties. Not that she couldn't be new to this job.
