Changed a dead door lock actuator on my tsx. Polished the headlight housings. Turned on the headlight to check before swapping bulbs, looks like one of the ballasts is dying. I swapped the headlight bulbs to a whiter light, need to find a ballast.

Then I installed a radium fuel damper on my civic. Took it apart, put it back together and installed it. Then re-re the front bumper, detailed everything under there and swapped on a freshly polished set of oe headlight assemblies. Need datalog to see if this fuel damper fixes my issues, maybe this weekend.

:yuno: ask me for ballast?

Since I swapped to leather, figured i might as well have something more supportive. Cut the feet off the RSX rails, bolted and tacked them onto the CRV bases and added armrests. Then I polished the lights.

EvoFire 05-25-2023 02:11 PM

^ Are the heated seats plug and play? Also I thought RSX seats had a problem with the support springs underneath collapsing.

fliptuner 05-26-2023 01:33 PM

The plugs for the seat heater and switches are the same. My CRV never came with heated seats, so I'll wire them in, using the harness off one that did.

Never had issues with RSX seat springs (although I've never owned one long enough to find out). I've just noticed a lot of the higher mileage ones, have the leather split at the bottom seam. The springs look the same as any other Honda seat, from the time.

I got some new lower profile crappy tire ramps. I was finally able to get enough room to access the drain plug and change my own oil. Waiting for every last drop of the precious fluid to drain out is very satisfying. Knowing you did the job right and without any shortcuts is a great feeling.

Surprised it took almost 8L of 5w30 to get it right in the middle of the dipstick.

^^ doesn't Lexus have any maintenance packages? Lol how come you went from Ferrari dealer service to DIY ghetto rig in the driveway like a poor person?

Went from looking at $4m houses to Surrey oil changes. :troll:

How do you prove oil changes or services if you need to warranty something. :considered:

Badhobz 05-26-2023 04:44 PM

Have you been talking to my wife JDM!? thats exactly the shit she said to me.

Let me tell you a tale! stay a while and listen....

So during my "exotic car" ownership experience, i was told over and over again that if you dont maintain it at the dealership, you'll get pennies on the dollar when you eventually sell the car. is that true? well yes and no. In the end i did get top dollar for my GranTurismo but top dollar was like under 50k for a mint, low mileage (44,000km), one owner, dealer serviced car. The value of the car just wasnt there even if it was the best example out there. so ultimately i overpaid for service on a car that wasnt going to hold its value regardless of dealer service or 3rd party. The disparity between a good GT at 50k vs a shitty one at 40k for sure doesnt cover the amount of $$$ i lost doing dealer servicing.

So with this ratrolla I took it in at 980km on the odo to dump the break in oil. Low and behold it came back overfilled by 1/2 a quart(maybe more?).
https://i.postimg.cc/YSLxN2qz/IMG-6553.jpg
Now at 5436km (as of oil change today) i did a PROPER oil change, not done by some shmuck who doesn't give a shit. Am i going to dealer service the ratrolla? you bet, everything else besides engine oil will be dealership done as i don't have the tool or the experience to bleed brake lines/suck out coolant, etc. But the most vital thing is engine oil and i dont want their apprentices doing that on my car. Plus i enjoy picking my own engine oil. Toyota's 5w30 isnt even synthetic.

whats warranty? does toyota even have warranties? i havent used any of their warranties and i have 2 Rx's, 1 ES, 1 SC, 1 LC.

Speaking of warranties, when I bought the C7, and was eventually transferred to the "financing/payment lady"

She was a hardcore sales person.

They told me right off the bat there is no warranty on it, and I was fine with that, I would not be getting one anyways if I bought from a private party.

Anyways, the lady offered me warranty on it, and I'm thinking, sure il pay 500-1000$ for extra 2 year warranty or such

The lady tells me the 3 year warranty is 5500!!!!!! And the two year is 4500!!!

Fuck me thats expensive. I mean sure it's 8% of the cars price, but its a car with 10k kms.... Not some shitbox with 250,000kms with something guaranteed to break.

After I said no, the price "magically dropped to 3500 for 2 years". Said no again, then they offered me the "gm electronics" warranty for like 2800, then dropped it to 1800$ or some shit. This entire time I can tell she is getting THICK commission because she was PUSHY, over phone, call back, and then even including it in the total bill by email after I said no.

Greasy and sleazy. Someone who is convinced easily would bend over and pay the extra money.

Felt like I was in visions electronics or the brick, just sales people being sales people.

/ Il post back later when I get a 5k bill on the C7 for something breaking and not buying warranty lol

Badhobz 05-26-2023 06:16 PM

yeah but was she hot!?

i had a similar story with my buddy's sister's mazda 3 she bought last year. Persian lady, heavy makeup. not bad looking, fake lips, fake tits, quite choice.

Shes like OMG you guys totally need extended warranty!!!
im like why? its a lease. she's gonna lease it and return it.
shes like OMG OMG it'll break cuz you guys leased it for 48months and warranty is only 36 months. im like uhhh do you even read your own shit? it says 3 year unlimited warranty for EVERYTHING, and then her powertrain is covered for 5 years. So worst comes to worst, she'll be out of warranty for her backup camera for 1 year. We'd still return the car to you with a defective backup camera.

shes then proceeded to tell me to shut my damn mouth and for my buddy's sister to decide since its her car. Suffice to say, she didnt make a sale that day.

The lexus lady at regency didnt even try to sell me anything extra. shes like sooo we have this... ahh nevermind.

GIZZ 05-26-2023 07:16 PM

where else can you be clueless about the dealer product and have no idea what the aftermarket BS you're selling exactly is and/or covers and make $150G/year

3rd party warranty, "bumper to bumper" - sure
sells rim and tire protection on base model with steelies and hubcaps - bad
paint protection, "come in for free annual detail and for a repaint whenever you like" - what?

most of the poeple in the business office are going to hell

Is that 150 without selling any warranty?

GIZZ 05-26-2023 07:43 PM

that's the business office after the deal is done, last chance for them to take your money. They would be selling warranties, paint protection, undercoat, $700 dash cams, lol

donk. 05-26-2023 08:55 PM

Oh yeah and I was also offered ppf for 4500, then it dropped to 2100 eventually

I can't recall if that was just front clip or what tho

The previous owner of my 07 Grand Cherokee bought a warranty package for some absurd amount, and even with how problematic that thing was he still didn't make enough in claims to justify the cost.

I felt like Acura604 today and decided to throw on some new shoes onto the Boxster S.

The original idea was to run these Hankook RS4 tires for track season, but given a change in life priorities, we decided to ship the Boxster back to Vancouver for use when we are in town.

The car will be in Vancouver in a few weeks so hope to see a few of you at an upcoming Stock & Noob meet. :)

So dirty. Sorry, it's not exactly a garage queen.

I've never seen rotors that drilled before, holy.

bcrdukes 05-27-2023 05:25 PM

These are stock rotors too! :hotbaby:

Edit: Just for good measure, let me put on my douche Porsche owner hat.

*ahem*

Ugh, I guess now I will have a Porsche in Vancouver. Did you want to see my investment portfolio and how it skyrocketed? Oh, by the way, my son drives a GT3RS.”

lol! :D

I recall you wanted a set for one of your project cars, if I'm not mistaken.

underscore 05-28-2023 08:34 AM

Yeah I've got adapters to use both the S or regular calipers on my Celica. They're overkill for my needs but still fun to have lol.
