Wowowowowwow epic. Best v8 they’ve ever made to be honest.

Yes with the Lexus, I don't need to worry about anything before getting in and driving it. The Lexus is a replacement for my other summer car which I still have. The other car is not a true summer car either but it has summer tires so I only drive it in the summer. That car I worry it might stall in rush hour, or something fails or break everytime I get in to drive it FeelsBadMan

It's eligible for collector plates so I think I will drive it more once I fix all the oil leaks

Yes at that time I didn't want a M5 because I've been driving manual cars for years and was tired of it. Especially in the morning during rush hour when I'm still tired. But now I want one and will get rid of one or both of these cars if I can find a nice mint condition white one for sale at a reasonable price :D

Thanksgiving weekend cleanup

- Polished and ceramic coated the brake calipers
- Cleaned and dressed the fender liners
- Decon washed wheels and tires. Lightly polished the wheels and ceramic coated them. Corrected the center cap placement (aligned with valve stem and wheel lock)
- Cleaned all the jambs with APC & rinseless wash. Applied paint sealant to the jambs.
- Polished the exhaust tips and ceramic coated them
- Washed the car

Slowly bringing this car back to life one long weekend at a time. Still a long list of things left to do before its presentable but progress is progress. I guess that's the joy of buying a used car.

Great work.

But it's got sportcontact 3???????? Pretty sure they were putting sportcontact 5 on when the car was new already.

Yea, the tires that came with the car are trash. Dated 2017 too. So that's another thing I need waste money on.

Loong, what's your product of choice for a hydrophobic coating on the windshield? I'm about done my stash of Aquapel and assume there are newer and better products out there?

My routine is/was wash, glass stripper, glass cleaner, Aquapel.

red kryptonite 10-15-2024 12:36 PM

Wow. That fender well and suspension looks brand new.

I've been trying multiple different ones. On my previous Mazda3, I used Gyeon Q2 view coating and that worked great. No wiper chatter and was super easy to apply. It's hard to beat Aquapel though for the price point but I've read good things about Soft99 glaco super speed. Durability really depends on how often you use your wipers. On my wifes CX-5 I just apply a bit of Amour Detail Supply Amplify (Si02 based drying aid) after each wash and that usually lasts until the next wash which is once every 2 months or so.

Thanks. It's alot better than it was before. If only I could afford getting the entire undercarriage dry ice cleaned.

Do you use fluid film or anything

coneZONE 10-31-2024 04:14 PM

So i’m guessing this huge splash was probably what finally made it bad enough to start misfiring noticeably

Only after rewatching did i notice that the puddle went across all three lanes

https://youtu.be/0TzRwwlWK60?si=SedeDYnIlGaEwv1b

The misfire been on and off this past while, mostly gone, but i didn’t really have a spot to start looking for it. Just today i had a really bad miss and check engine light came on (finally lol) for P1381 Camshaft Sensor Intermittent Interruption
So i cracked open the distributor cap and there is so much corrosion in there lol

I’m guessing it’s been an ongoing moisture leak into the distributor but that huge splash probably was the last straw.
A few years ago i did replace the ignition coil because it just died out. And i did the cap and rotor at the same time anyway. It seems like the cap seal hardened out, so gonna order that
So far just cleaned out all the corrosion and put it together, seems good for now

68style 10-31-2024 09:15 PM

That rust is iron oxide caused by repetitive misfires... I don't think the splash caused that

That stuff was almost baked onto the inside so i agree definitely way before big splash too haha, i just guess that it exacerbated the misfire? Or just a coincidence too. I don’t normally feel a miss during city driving commute..
So much oxidation inside, the laminated steel part of the coil was a bit bulged and also white powdery oxidation too all over the ign coil unit. Rotor was pretty seized onto the shaft. May be related to long term moisture? I did the work almost exactly 3 years ago and never rechecked …

There’s always been little hiccups thru the years lol
Another weird one is every other winter i’ll have a bad misfire P0300, P0302 P0304 for some reason just running 2 cylinders for a few seconds until i rev it and it goes away (sounds like flat-4 rumble when it happens).
And the other intermittent issue is like a hesitation/misfire when cruising around 2000-2500 RPM ( this was before and after the ignition coil failure)

Maybe a whole distributor to be lined up for replacement? Launch the parts cannon!!!
Man these intermittent issues ( i don’t even know how to translate mo-beng/ mao bing to English ) are a PITA … Chronic Illness
No misfire monitor on these early OBD2A

Wow!! Can’t wait to see what other goodies you have in store. I believe these require a tune and not just plug and play.

I probably should've used the money I spent on this to do the remaining big 2/3 but #yolo

May consider getting a remote tune done in the future but to get things going the stock CSL tune can be loaded up fairly easily and is readily available
