Doesnt even look that bad. I definately wouldn't have brought up speed, but hope your witness doesn't say it was red otherwise you're screwed.

Doesn't matter what actually happened. If the "unbiased" witness says you ran a red (which in all likelihood you didn't, but by the time the witness looked at the color after the accident, it was red), then unfortunately you are at fault.

Exact scenario happened to me out front of the PNE and that clusterfuck of an intersection. I ran a yellow, 400 people around and no one saw anything, then a month later there is a witness that said I ran the red. Game over. Took 3 months to be found 100% at fault and 6 years to resolve how much money the kid got.

Hey OP, I know i'm just being paranoid. But, I would edit out what speed you were going.
just in the slim chance the driver knows your revscene or the adjuster figures it out.. I know this is being really paranoid, but you never know.

If they have evidence that you may have been speeding that could work against you.
but, from what you have said, it is the guy turning left that will be at fault.

Good luck with the situation and I hope you guys are all okay.

You should really think about buying a dash camera for the car. If you are in a situation where you do not have witnesses to an accident, then how will you get ICBC to be on your side? The dash cam can be your best buddy.

How did you find out what that lady's religion was? Did it come up organically in conversation or did you come out and ask her?

-Weather was dry and if you were going speed limit, you should had been able to stop prior to intersection.

-You have witness stating you ran red.

Conclusion - You are fucked. Unless someone can vouch for you. At best 50/50.

Not so much that no one saw.
But more like no one wanted to be involved or troubled to be a witness, and some people are just naturally reluctant to offer up personal info to strangers, even in times of need. So it's easier to just turn the head and say you saw nothing. It's quite sad. Considering it's an intersection, I guarantee at least some of the other cars would be watching at the intersection. Otherwise... How else would drivers know when a light changes green.

How ICBC "draw this" depends on how articulate you are. You have to present your point of view to convince ICBC that the other person is more likely to be at fault. From the sounds of it, you need practice. eg what do your parents position in the car relevant to your case?

BTW speed limit is there as a guideline, you are suppose to vary according to traffic conditions. Just be glad no cop was around to hand you a ticket. It looks like you didn't even brake until you enter the intersection (hence the skid mark).

If you don't want your parents to suffer for your fault.. get a $500 box of bolt and get basic insurance for it.

If you think you ran a yellow and not a red. Just fight for it. Go with what you believe in.
