Renthal 06-23-2012 01:20 PM

jvr for luongo please

cliffhanger33 06-23-2012 01:31 PM

gotta admit burke knows how to deal

RiceIntegraRS 06-23-2012 01:37 PM

Maybe Burke is aquiring pieces for the Luongo Trade. Im gonna say JVR will land in Vancouver pretty soon

Renthal 06-23-2012 01:41 PM

i bet philly is prepping itself for carle's departure

murd0c 06-23-2012 01:43 PM

I don't know about JVR. Yes hes a good player but with hip issues and Philly pressuring him to have surgery and he didn't kinda makes me worried.

RiceIntegraRS 06-23-2012 01:56 PM

I really want Bobby Ryan on this team. Hes a human highlight reel.

Bouncing Bettys 06-23-2012 02:05 PM

I'm very sceptical about this trade right now. Schenn has played his nhl career without an actual defensive system to play within. I was hoping to see how he would do with Carlyle.

cliffhanger33 06-23-2012 02:05 PM

both were underachieving players in their markets, so it was a good trade for both teams

Bouncing Bettys 06-23-2012 02:28 PM

Just occured to me that Schenn was the longest serving leaf of the current roster, if I'm not mistaken. Been a lot of movement since JFJ got the boot.

highfive 06-23-2012 03:17 PM

Watch Schenn explodes to an awesome shut down defenceman with the help of Pronger. Burke would be..I still believe in JVR etc etc... lol

While you can expect Nash to be dealt sometime in July, it’s harder to tell with Luongo.

Two teams have clear interest in Luongo: Florida and Toronto. Both teams held dialogue with Vancouver at the draft. But both the Panthers and Maple Leafs were unimpressed with the opening asking price from the Canucks. Way too high, was the reaction. But that’s natural in these discussions. It’s only a starting point.

But what it also tells you is that the Canucks aren’t going to buy in to this theory that they have to simply take whatever they can to get rid of Luongo’s monster contract. He’s still a top-level goalie and the Canucks are adamant they will make a hockey deal, not a CBA dump deal. You can’t blame Vancouver for that. Simply put: If Toronto gets Luongo, for example, it makes the playoffs next season, in my opinion. Think that shouldn’t be motivation enough for the Leafs?

Know this from the Panthers: They’ve decided this weekend they’re going to see this Luongo thing through. They’re going to focus on it seriously.

Know this, Part 2: Canucks GM Mike Gillis also will see this through. He’s not giving Luongo away. If the proper deal isn’t there this summer, he’s prepared to have Luongo come to camp and wait until a team gets serious into the season before the trade deadline. The question is, would Luongo be OK with that?
Quote:

he Canucks and Cory Schneider’s agent, Mike Liut, chatted this weekend but are not close at all on a new deal. I can’t see Schneider signing until Luongo is at least close to being traded. ... The Canucks shopped Marc-Andre Gragnani over the weekend but found no takers. Gragnani hasn’t been given a qualying offer yet by the Canucks. If he isn’t by Monday’s 5 pm ET deadline, he’ll turn UFA July 1. ... And I leave you with this sobering note: The league and NHL Players’ Association are tentatively scheduled to begin CBA talks late this week. Don’t hold your breath: I don’t expect any kind of real progress in talks until September.
Luongo, Nash survive trade winds at draft - Cross Checks Blog - ESPN

I'd love to see JVR come this way. Burke said Schenn was not on the market previously so, I foresee a Luongo trade coming sooner than later.

pastarocket 06-23-2012 04:16 PM

It's been a week of family reunions in terms of NHL trades. First the Staal brothers get to play together now the Schenns.

C'mon Gillis, get a trade done for Luongo! He has a limited time window to unload Luongo, get a player or more back in return so that he has the cap room to sign Schneider.

Canucks must avoid the situation where another team gives an offer sheet to Schneider starting on July 1st. Free agent frenzy starts next Sunday.

cliffhanger33 06-23-2012 06:14 PM

the luongo thing is rly dragging, doubt anything will happen anytime soon

Adam Jahns ‏@adamjahns
Hearing the words of Dale Tallon and Brian Burke, it's very clear the asking price for Roberto Luongo is very high right now.

Tim Budong 06-23-2012 06:39 PM

Asking price maybe high, but I have no issues with both goalies in town when the season starts

Spoon 06-23-2012 06:49 PM

As fans sure. But the atmosphere in the locker room will probably be toxic. I'd expect MG to lose his job if we under achieve in any way.

cliffhanger33 06-23-2012 06:50 PM

ya I would love them both here, but I Just don't see how lu and schneids can be put together, nor can I see them sharing ice time. Just won't happen. I'm pretty confident one of them will be moved

BMW M5 06-23-2012 08:38 PM

i cant see Lu go back into that locker room, he got way too much pride and ego.

Start the season with Schneider and Lack as back up. Put Lu in the press box and away from the team to keep the distraction to a minimal

If so :victory:

cliffhanger33 06-23-2012 09:06 PM

Rly seems like leafs are clearing cap space, by letting go the Monster as well as Schenn; ssigh too much speculation
