at this point, it doesn't matter who gets moved
The feeling is that the asking price for either one is TOO DAMN HIGH

Right now he doesn't need to trade Lu right now. If Doan does decide to come to us I can see Lu getting traded shortly after to free up cap space. In the mean time why not wait and take it easy, Gillis knows he's going to get a great deal sooner then later.

It should be high. He's still an excellent goalie

Breaking: Shea Weber agrees to offer sheet with Philadelphia. 14 years, upwards of $100 mil. Preds have 7 days to match. Wow!!

sonick 07-18-2012 08:54 PM

pwned.

Bonka 07-18-2012 08:55 PM

Done.

RiceIntegraRS 07-18-2012 09:00 PM

14 year 100mil contract. Thats approximately 7.1Mil a year, a bargain for a guy like Weber. I think Weber really shot himself in the foot by agreeing to a contract with the Flyers for that amount if he wanted out of Nashville. Cause i cant see why Nashville wouldnt match that offer. So now he would be stuck there for the rest of his career. Unless he demands a trade in the near future or withholds his services

dbaz 07-18-2012 09:02 PM

looks like webers a pred for life. unless they match it and then trade him. 4 first they would receive would be for 22-30 every year not really worth it.

spideyv2 07-18-2012 09:03 PM

LOZLZOLZLULZ

OH WAIT GOUYZZZ, BUT THE PPL ON CDC SED WEBER WAS A GARANTEED CANUCK!!!!

Tim Budong 07-18-2012 09:25 PM

at 7.5m/year its not too bad
haha
just hte length

Tim Budong 07-18-2012 09:28 PM

the compensation to Nashville
6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third

anything more would be
4 1st rnd picks

Ronin 07-18-2012 09:50 PM

Preds will match tomorrow or something. That's a deal for Weber. Sure, he'll be 41 when that contract is done but it's probably front loaded with a lower salary for 38-39-40-41.

Good job, Flyers...you just helped the Preds negotiate a completely reasonable contract for the NHL's best all-around defenseman.

...but this just tells me the Preds were lowballing Weber. $7.1m is like...less than Scott Gomez money!

411ken 07-18-2012 09:57 PM

Read that he wud make 26mil for 1 calendar year ? Holy shit if true

Preda have to match! First round picks from Philly will be in high 20s so ya.
I know u can still find gems but no way u "trade" weber for those picks

pure.life 07-18-2012 09:58 PM

They'll prob lose those draft picks in years to come anyway when other teams pull the same thing again. Poor Nashville.

pure.life 07-18-2012 10:19 PM

man I feel bad for Rinne. If he's not having a nightmare now, he'll surely have it next year

RRxtar 07-18-2012 10:32 PM

man, these contracts are NOT good for the NHL. unless the new CBA does something about them, EVERY star is going to be looking for 10+ years and 100mil contracts now. its making the players bigger than the game. and they can sit back with their guaranteed money. would not want a contract like that on my team.

the cap era was supposed to even the playing field. these contracts are now making it so only teams dumb enough with dumb enough deep pockets are able to sign superstars. but id bet that 4 out of 5 teams signing these contracts are going to wish they hadn't before the contract is half way thru.

remember when dipietro and more recently kolvalchuk signed their contracts? it was absurd at the time. now theres been what, 5 or 6 this year?

theres 15 guys in the NHL (16 with webber) with 10-15 year deals now.

GrapeDrink 07-18-2012 10:54 PM

^ I feel you man, as a sharks fan, our GM basically straight up said hes opposed to that and he wouldn't give those to anyone, and I personally like that he keeps the team flex, people are actually accountable to live up to their contracts or get moved. But at the same time because of that, we end up missing on all the big name FA's because hes unwilling to stoop to that level of handing out these redic 13-14 year front loaded contracts its just a joke imo

spoon.ek9 07-19-2012 12:08 AM

Good job by the Flyers... :lol

I'm so happy there's actual news to read about :alone:
