U ride the hotter goalie. While giving the other goalie a few starts to redeem himself. I honestly think Lu will get traded deadline day. The only problem i have with those deals is the players we get back need to have time to build chemistry with the other players

Would be pretty awsome if they let them battle it out

Thats actually a valid point lol

If Cory shits the bed in the first game, you go with Luongo until he shits the bed. That's the whole point of having a 1A and 1B.

of course, but given the situation at hand
its funny how some people dont understand the situation
I dont care what Luongo says, if he is a team player, hes going to be ONE with Cory and do his part

The Canucks will be hamstrung by Lu's gigantic salary cap and limited in everything they do from trading to payroll. Lu will see his market value drop, not to mention the skills deterioation when he stays out of the game.

To oversimplify, Schneider hasn't been time tested and proven as a starter yet, he has about 80 total NHL games under his belt over the past 4 years. In a season where it may be the current core's last chance to make a solid run for the cup, can you really afford the chance to throw it all on a new starting goalie in exchange for another top 6 player who may turn out to perform as well as Booth has? I love Schneider's game, but I wouldn't be confident enough to throw the team's last chance at a cup run solely on his back.

There's also no indication that Lu is disgruntled and won't play for the Canucks. He understands the situation, he understands his role now, and he understands that to make himself marketable and give himself a chance to win with whatever team, it's in his best interest to play well now. I truly believe Lu and Schneider have a great working relationship, highly doubt there will be awkwardness in the room if both of these guys are still playing for the Canucks.

!Nhan 01-07-2013 02:43 PM

Rangers for the cup. They are too beast.

IMO keep Lu. That's just what I would prefer.

The NW Division has been an automatic President's Trophy for the Canucks, and I don't see that changing this year. At least it'll be an easy playoff birth

i would stop this type of mindset to the fans (and the team)...

play every game hard and play with the thought that the other team will try and beat you rather than this game is a gimme

!Nhan 01-07-2013 04:06 PM

without kesler (assuming he's still injured and not saying it because of cba) theres a pretty high chance we won't finish top of the division or the west this year. especially with the wild bulking up pretty well this past summer

I think we've all figured out by now finishing 1st in the west/league doesn't matter anymore lol

Playoffs is where it matters

Don't forget Flames too! They got Hudler and Wideman! :troll: lol

Realistically though, avoiding injuries should be priority number one than getting a higher seed.

What happens if Hamhuis is out for the playoffs? We would be pretty damn screwed.

spideyv2 01-07-2013 04:35 PM

We gonna save our energy for the playoffs again or what? :troll:

Enlighten me to what the situation is that I don't understand.

Is Luongo so disgruntled and has too much pride that he would throw away being a 1b and a chance at a stanley cup to go play in Florida or Toronto (insert any mediocre team here)? Whose to say Luongo won't start the season opener? Anything can happen at any given time. I'm content with Gillis holding on to both pieces until he has to make a move.

But if we save we'll have even more energy and will beat the Bruins this time :troll:

Hondaracer 01-07-2013 05:36 PM

As I've said before, there are very few assets that we could get in return for Luongo that get us closer to a cup

IMO the sitatuion is not "toxic" nor is it a distraction outside of what the media creates for the players. However Lu obviously wants to be the number one and his past comments about time being over in Vancouver will stick with him
