there has to be a container in the garbage bags...

regular gasoline eats thru bags in like what 10 seconds..? if it was just the garbage bag it will literally melt before the bag is even 1/4 full

Yea, I'm pretty sure garbage bags wouldn't hold up gas at all. Even the toughest garbage bag wouldn't hold it. Entertaining this idea is just stupid. Go outside and fill up a garbage bag with water and then try to lift it up and see how difficult it is...

For all we know, this "dumbass" could be doing something else. Yes, a pictures tells a thousand words but a picture in context tells the truth. We have no idea what he's doing here and to simply come up with the most outrageous explanation and say that he's guilty of it is ludicrous. Usually the media would've followed through with more thorough research but they probably want to shit out as many Bellingham/Canadian stories as they can because both Americans and Canadians are passionately reading about them right now.

. . . .

B.C. man alleged to have filled garbage bags with gas in Bellingham says he used jerry cans

SolidPenguin 08-20-2012 01:28 AM

Haha his explanation does make sense. And in the pictures it doesn't look like theres liquid going straight into the bag, because otherwise they would bulge out.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Bill, who lives in Maple Ridge, said he goes down to the Bellingham weekly to do his shopping and fill up gas.

He said he filled up two jerry cans in garbage bags, as well as his Saturn Vue SUV's tank. He is incredulous that people would think he was putting fuel straight into bags.

U.S. media outlet Komo News reported the witness who took the photos alleged the man filled three black garbage bags at Fred Meyer, then put those bags in a vehicle bearing B.C. licence plates.

using a sell phone next to a gas dispenser won't do anything at all. There is more of a static charge when you take the nozzle out of the nozzle cradle then a cell phone creates.

I say the total $ amount of things bought including the alcohol. If CBSA asks whether I have alcohol, then I say I bought a ## pack.

I have never gone over 24 pack though. Tempted to buy 30 pack, maybe I will try next time.

So I was at Costco in Burlington yesterday when it opened.
I had my door open and this women with a US plate just pulls into the spot next to me.

My car was parked properly within the lines.
The spots in this parking lot are fairly wide.

I cam back from shopping, and her car is gone.
But I see a big scratch on my door which was made by the shopping cart.

I don't know if it was an accident or on purpose.

i'd say on purpose because the front corners of their shopping carts have soft rubber elbows to prevent dings on cars (great idea i might add). you'd really have to try have to damage a car with a cart IMO

honestly i dont see a huge scratch in the picture above, just a couple small ones on the door moulding.

about a year ago i was at costco in downtown seattle and come back to a 1/4" dent in my fender with the paint chipped off... i dont think it was malicious, just some inconsiderate asshole with a old school car with heavy ass doors.

Glove 09-03-2012 09:48 PM

I saw a guy at the costco the other weekend filling up four 20 litre jerry cans and his little civic.

Looks like im falling behind the curve, I only have two 20's and two 10's, looks like il hafto bring another two 20's with me to keep up the pace. I wonder if someone will say something if they see me filling up 6 jerry cans.

similar situation, Chinese Mainlanders come to HK to pick up everyday goods to resale back in shenzhen.

except the people protested hha. I see people with carts of goods all the time in SheungShui as my uncle lives in Fairview Park and the transfer bus is through SheungShui MTR

quoted from South China Morning Post

Quote:

Angry scenes erupted at Sheung Shui on Saturday afternoon after dozens of people launched a protest against cross-border traders.
The protest, initiated by netizens on Facebook earlier this week, started at 2pm with about 50 residents in the border town standing near exit C of Sheung Shui MTR station.
“Recover Sheung Shui! Protect our homes!” they chanted, from slogans written on placards. They said many parallel traders buying goods in the neighbourhood had created a disturbance.
The MTR Corporation, prepared for the protest, erected a sign at the station exit requiring passengers to carry no more than one item of luggage. The protest also drew some 300 onlookers standing around the station and on a footbridge.
It did not take long for clashes to break out after two young protesters held up high a sign reading: “Mainland people go back to China”, together with a Hong Kong flag from the colonial era. While fellow protesters asked them to put it away, some middle-aged men, offended by the slogan, rushed at them aggressively. They denounced the pair as “unpatriotic”. Officers from the Police Tactical Unit then intervened and separated them.
Some protesters said they recognised parallel traders among the crowds. But no trading activities were seen at the MTR station.
Cross-border, or parallel traders, are most active in Sheung Shui because it is only one station from Lo Wu. They take products ranging from milk powder, mobile phones and cosmetics over the border to sell in the mainland.
video of the protest...

and some pics of the people hoarding.
