I’ve driven through there a million times and always wondered why anyone would live there lol.. such a weird spot. You’re still a decent ways away from manning, you’re kind of in no mans land in terms of lakes, it’s really like a gateway spot to more but it seems like everywhere you’d want to go from there is still a decent drive away. And it’s not like you can just ride your ATV, Dirtbike, sled etc. out from your property

You wouldn't want a flat roof in that area with the snowfall in the winter.
I wasn't worried about slides, but yes I think wildfire would be a worry. That said, if you're worried about wildfire risks, that pretty much counts out the entire province with exception of the heart of the city.
I assume well water but I didn't ask. Yes, septic.
One thing that caught me off guard: He's on the north side of the highway and there's no cell service, but he has solid wifi. The south side of the highway has cell service though.
It's definitely more rural and off the grid than you might expect, but there was something enticing about it too.
Can't you get something around cultus or harisson, Agassi for similar money or less? It's pretty rural out there and also plenty of land. Much flatter too and closer to the city.

I'm in Calgary for a few days and I've kinda blown away at how much house you can get for $1m here. I'm in an area called Capitol Hill that's about 15 mins from downtown and you can get a 3000sf duplex for $1m and change like:
In East Van or Burnaby these would be near $3m homes.
Sure the winters are total shit as are the politics but, boy, that's some serious difference in COL - like maybe we should move there and retire kinda difference.
Edit: I happened to go into an open house for one of these duplexes down the street and the build quality was the same EI garbage we see in Vancouver too but they're not all like that - the one I'm staying in is pretty good.

You’re looking at the wrong type of houses in the wrong type of area too… Capitol Hill is just a “name” community, no reason to be there besides status of the name, you can plop yourself anywhere on the C Train line and be downtown in 20 minutes by transit or less driving and not be in some bullshit white and black EI build skinny home on half of what used to be a C2 zoned res lot they cut into 2 for profit.
I mean I’m all the way up in Hawkwood and I can drive to downtown core in 21 minutes. Not that I ever really go there to be honest.
