We live on a street with a dead end. Our 'problem' neighbour lives across the street from us. I am lucky to be across the street, because the person who lives directly next to him has many more frustrations than I do. My first beef was shortly after moving in, I realized he'd always park his second vehicle in the space in front of my house instead of his own house. I understand completely that nobody 'owns' the space on the street in front of their house. But I don't think it's unreasonable for me to want to park my own car in front of my own house, especially when he can and should park in front of his own damn house. Anyways, now the problem is whenever he leaves, he pulls forward, reverses into my driveway so he can turn around, and then drives off. He's been using my driveway as his personal cul-de-sac at least twice a day, sometimes more, and several times he runs over the grass when reversing. Anyways tonight I finally texted him: Quote:

this guy sounds like a total jerkbag. I guarantee he will not comply to your request. The only way to teach him a lesson is to park a car in front of your own driveway, thus blocking him from accessing that space. you need to establish dominance with these kinds of pricks. They only understand force. |
Eff-1, I feel for you because my neighbour from across the street does nearly the same thing -- he almost always parks his car on one side next to my driveway, and backs into my driveway to do a 3-point turn to leave. The fortunate thing for me is -- he rarely backs his SUV onto my grass. Another really annoying thing is -- he is a smoker, which I don't really mind / care about. That's his own vice, and he can do whatever he wants. But he likes to smoke in his SUV, and he'd often toss the cigarette butts onto the streets where they end up directly in front of my house or my driveway. In the summer, sometimes I get concerned bcos some amount of cigarette butts would end up appearing on the grassy section between the road and the sideway. I look at that as a potential fire hazard, and the consequences could be extremely serious when it is hot and dry, and all the grass has browned out. There is also a fairly big tree right on that part of the grass as well in the typical Vancouver residential street fashion. I dunno what I can do / should do, becaues that old man always acts extra friendly with all the neighbours in a somewhat crude manner, so it's difficult to bring up topics like these. |

I had a guy in my condo complex a couple floors up keep smoking on his patio and dropping butts down that ends up on my patio on the ground floor, complained to strata and he got notices he didn’t give a fuck, so I dutifully collected them all summer long had a bag of like 60 of them, walked upstairs one day and mashed them into his door and dumped the whole pile on his doorstep in the hallway, left an unsigned note saying there’s more where that came from if he wants to keep it up. No more cigarette butts :) |
Well done! |
WELCOME TO NORTH VAN I can help you by parking one of my trucks infront of your house for indefinite amount of time :troll: only way to fight redneckery is by being more redneck |

Heck, maybe ICE agents would be called to help out. LUL I used Google to find an answer that might help you. AI's answer: Yes, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) can be contacted about harassment issues, including those that stem from parking disputes. Contacting the VPD for Harassment Harassment is considered a serious matter and can be a criminal offense (often referred to as stalking in the Criminal Code). If you believe you are being harassed, the VPD can investigate the matter. For non-emergencies: Call the VPD non-emergency line at 604-717-3321. This is the appropriate number if there is no immediate danger. For emergencies: Call emergency services if there is an immediate threat to life or safety, or a crime in progress. What the VPD Can Do Upon receiving a report of harassment, the police may take several steps depending on the circumstances: Speak with the offender to de-escalate the situation and warn them to stop the contact. Serve the individual with a warning letter. Arrest the individual and lay charges if the behavior is determined to be criminal harassment. Advise on documentation and gathering evidence (e.g., times, dates, pictures) to support your case. If that neighbour escalates this parking issue, call the VPD. Stalking is a criminal offence. |

A friend of mine had that neighbour parking problem driving over their driveway ... he put a big ass rock on the corner .. :lol. Maybe you can hide some spikes under that patch for him to drive over the next time ... that'll teach him. |
Where do you randomly get a huge rock from? I'm going to have to one-up that and get an obelisk. |
White man gets rocks from colonies and slaves |
Oh yeah that's right. I forgot about their colonizing ways. |
I think you'd go to a landscaping company ... |

Another option is to start calling your local bylaw enforcer, good chance he parks in the spot too long or is too close to your driveway. :considered: |
