Carleton Elementary sits on a fairly large piece of land. If we are going by historical examples, the fact that VSB can lease out Fleming Elementary's basketball court to a developer to build low rise rental housing would almost guarantee something similar, but on a far larger scale.

This monstrosity is still for sale in Oak Bay and has come down from $10m to $6m:

Kind of has a protestant community church vibe to it. I wonder if that was the original intent.

Something about that entrance and the wide open spaces inside.

bcrdukes 12-25-2025 10:33 AM

I was thinking oddball cult, but Protestant works too!

:rukidding: outside looks okay, but inside looks like it was less than 50 dollars a sqft worth of finishings :rukidding:

JDMDreams 12-25-2025 11:45 AM

WTF how's that built in 2022 the decor looks like 2005. Is that a car turn table in the garage? And why's it all dirt outside and not paved

Traum 12-25-2025 12:22 PM

It does look like a car turn table in the garage to me too, and that is just weird AF.

Something is very, very wrong when a place has a huge garage, and I still don't like it.

Wait, what's wrong with a huge garage?!

bcrdukes 12-25-2025 12:34 PM

I suspect Badhobz already bought this place.

Badhobz 12-25-2025 01:41 PM

Yeah right, i wouldnt take that place even if you gave it to me. The amount of money required to spruce that dump into “shanghainese bragging status” is beyond a 2-3 million dollars.

The garage is probably the best looking space in that house for me. But even with that, the rest of the house is still so weird that I wouldn't touch it even if I have the money for it.

I also don't like the vehicle turn table either. IMO the garage would have been much better off if it only had a simple concrete slap for flooring and nothing else.

Property tax on that place is like 55k a year.

Impeccable landscaping for a $6m house.

underscore 12-26-2025 12:46 PM

That place raises so many questions. Why is it decorated like a convention center? Why is there no landscaping? Did they get a bulk deal on those weird showers? What's the purpose of the garage turntable that just chews up a ton of floor space?

Manic! 12-29-2025 07:30 PM

This is pretty bad. Located in Comox/black creek.

Looks like a Hudsons bay fort.

The ex Doman (of Doman Lumber) property in Cowichan Bay is up for sale:

https://cdn.realtor.ca/listing/TS638...1015159_87.jpg

https://cdn.realtor.ca/listing/TS638...1015159_13.jpg

82 acres of land
10,000 sqft main house, 15 bed/bath
2800 sqft guest house
4200 sqft secondary residence
600sqft pool house
Helicopter pad

For a cool 14.5 million. It actually seems like a good deal if you have that kind of money to begin with.

This is actually just down the road from where my Aunt & Uncle live in Cow Bay. As a kid I used to see Doman's helicopter flying in and out all the time.

Is this the same Doman who owns the BC Lions (aka Amar Doman)?

Same family, the property belonged to Herb Doman.
Amar Doman is his nephew (Son of Ted Doman, Herb's brother)

supafamous 12-31-2025 05:05 PM

Assessments are out - looks like things are down across the board from 3-9% depending on where you are. Not surprising at all.
