Ottomobile 1/18 Golf Sport Edition Cabriolet Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a nice Christmas with friends and family. Here is simple review of Ottomobile's VW Mk3 Golf Sport Edition Cabriolet. The Volkswagen Golf Mk3 Cabrio (or Typ 1E) was introduced in 1994 for the 1995 model year, replacing the previous MK1 Rabbit based Cabriolet. It was facelifted in 1998 (mid 1999 for non-euro markets) with the front, rear, and steering wheel styling from the Golf Mk4 while still maintaining the body from the Mk3 Cabrio. These Cabrios are often referred to as the Mk3.5 Cabrios. The Volkswagen Golf Cabrio was discontinued in 2002. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Nw...=w1262-h946-no Photo of real MK3 Sport Editon The Sport Edition Mk3 Cabiro reproduced by Ottomobile was only available to the German Market. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/56...=w1419-h946-no Ottomobile 1/18 MK3 Golf Sport Edition Cabriolet When I saw this model back in September, I knew I had to add it into my hatchback collection. How many VW cabrio's do you really see in 1/18 scale? Not too many... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/UL...=w1419-h946-no The packaging for this car is typical Ottomoble, clam shell Styrofoam that provides good protection during transport, and the car is nicely wrapped with protective paper with a plastic cover bag. Thus no harm done to the body paint. Speaking of paint, I think the quality of the paint lately is close to GT Spirit quality. The paint quality on my Golf cabiro is very good. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ud...=w1419-h946-no After unwrapping the Golf from it's packaging, I was really impressed with the look and stance of the car. I think Otto has accurately captured the shape of the Golf cabrio really well. The BBS alloy rims are nicely recreated in scale. The panel lines are to scale. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/D3...=w1419-h946-no Since this is a cabriolet, the interior of the car is in full view. I found it nicely reproduced. Otto even simulated floor carpeting. I was disappointed that they did not add seat belts for the seats. Not a deal breaker, but they should of added this little detail for realism. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/HL...=w1419-h946-no Upon further inspection of this model, my mind kept on thinking 90210 and Jenny Garth for some reason. Maybe the look of the carbrio brings back memories of the 90's. To me it amplifies fun. I guess you guys can tell, I really dig this model. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/tF...=w1419-h946-no In conclusion, Do I recommend this car? If you are a VW fan and love cool hatches, or you would like to diversify your collection, yes. I personally like it because it is different from typical diecast of exotic cars... Hope you guys like the pics, and comments are welcomed. Thank you for looking. I hope 2017 will be another great year for collecting diecast cars. Happy Collecting William |
Can we put pacmans die cast reviews on the front page as well, the stuff he writes are pretty cool |

i feel that something is also off with the rear wing... too square from the back? regardless, it's 100x better than the ancient kyosho diecast and the other brand i cannot remember who put out an ugly one for fast and furious... |

first of my ignition model preorders for 2017 arrived early a half month ago... only had the time to open it now: https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...a9&oe=58D67244 https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...ee&oe=58F1B5A6 https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d3&oe=59239A80 bride seats, sabelts, there is a rollcage but it still has full interior although it's missing the cargo cover in the back, and lowered on watanabes. this is the gtv version with the headlights in up position. it's nearly a perfect model, but they had made some thin spots in some of the black trim pieces when they buffed or cut polished the red. but i'm happy :D |

Tarmac Works 1/18 Honda Civic EG6 Jaccs #14 JTCC Hi everyone, I hope you all had a nice holidays, and I wish you all a happy prosperous and healthy 2017. This is my first 2017 review. It is the Honda Jaccs Civic EG6 #14 JTC from Tarmac Works. This is a 1/18 scale full resin sealed model. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/F_...=w1280-h854-no A little history about this car. From 1985 to 1993 Honda was successful at racing Civics in the All Japan Touring Car Championship (JTC) in the 1600cc displacement class. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J-rg5ZvGuj...46698061_3.jpg During the mid 92' season, the EG6 was introduced to replace the E-AT, EF3 and EF9 type Civics. And in final season of the JTC in 1993, the Jaccs Civic #14 driven by Kazuhi Hattori / Katsumi Kaneishi, took 4 wins and won their first driver''s title. http://speedhunters-wp-production.s3...04/retro02.jpg Real Car The EG6 Civic was powered by a NA 1600cc B16A DOHC VTEC engine that produced 205 BHP initially and eventually evolving to 230 BHP. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqeEgTVwot...6+SiR-II+7.jpg B16A It was difficult to find any english articles about the Jaccs EG6, but here is a short YouTUBE clip of the actual car. Turn up your speakers for VTEC! About the Model The packaging from Tarmac is pretty cool. The graphics on the box represents a shipping container. And when you open the box, the model is well protected in a Styrofoam clam shell and wax paper. A base with plaque is included with the model. http://modelisimo.ru/photo_preview/T01-JA-1.jpg After unwrapping the model, I was very impressed with the decal application. There was no visible decal residue. You could definitely see and feel the quality and attention to detail that Tarmac has placed on this model. One thing I really liked about this model was use of photo etched parts. For example if you read in my previous model reviews, I often complained about how some manufacturers use plastic for windshield wipers on a expensive model. Well in this case Tarmac used a Photo Etched wiper. Not only does it look more to scale, it looks more realistic. Other uses of PE parts are the hood pins, five point racing harness, front grill, disk brakes, toe hooks, and Honda emblem on the rear trunk. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/tN...=w1280-h854-no Front Grill, Hood Pins, and Toe Hook https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/tE...=w1280-h854-no Five Point Seat Belts https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/lt...=w1280-h854-no Honda Emblem https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/t1...=w1280-h854-no Disk Brakes The overall shape and panel lines are captured well. One detail I really liked, was that the B-pillar is actually raised. Not printed on flat. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_O...=w1280-h854-no The striped out interior with roll cage is very detailed and highly visible from a distance. Data cable wires are clearly visible, and the instrument panel consist of raised dials, and decals. Tarmac's use of different shades of grays and black does not make the interior dull looking. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Te...=w1280-h854-no There were a few things I did notice on my model. First, after comparing the model to the actual car, I think the front of car is a bit too low. And second, there were some QC issues on windows. Not all the windows on my model were glued down tight. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F...=w1280-h854-no http://speedhunters-wp-production.s3...04/retro04.jpg Overall I really like this model. It represents a piece of Civic history. Deep down I am a Honda guy, and I also love hatches. I know that Tarmac will be releasing a EK9 version of the Jaccs Civic, and I can't wait to get my hand on one of those. Enjoy the pics, and comments are welcomed. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wk...=w1280-h854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/9r...=w1280-h854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/2g...=w1280-h854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/t-...r=w620-h930-no Happy Collecting!
