Finally got a digital camera for my trip Canon Powershot SX700 HS 16.1MP 30x Optical Zoom Digital Camera. $279. For the price range this seems one of the better camera.

The only thing I read is that battery is sort of an issue especially for recording video. But otherwise I think is fine.

I thought that was his roundabout way of telling you to get a price adjustment. Unless I missed something lol

Anyone know of any good deals on the Fuji X-T1?

N.V.M. 01-20-2015 05:20 AM

couple on CL...

m3thods 01-20-2015 11:34 AM

^This, otherwise Fuji promos have been light as of late. I'm still waiting on a sale for the 14.

any recommendation for a travel bag/kit?
I have a sony a6000 and will probably be travelling this summer, anything that can double as a day bag (carry water bottle, room for miscellaneous goods, etc.) would be an added bonus.

I use a Tamrac Rally 5, lets me carry my 10" laptop (Asus transformer), has a front pocket for small things like my point and shoot/filters/batteries, side elastic pocket for something like a water bottle. I use it with my EOS-M so it's on the bigger side.

I dig ThinkTank's mirrorless mover as it's fairly slim but I wasn't sure if it'd fit my laptop Mirrorless MoverŽ 30i (Heathered Grey)

The Tenba bags are on the pricier side but I like their designs

Obviously there's a lot of lowepros to check out, but Manfrotto's Unica line is not bad either and I saw some pretty good deals a few weeks ago on their website.

I will never again buy a camera bag that looks like a camera bag. Just feels less conspicuous on the streets.

StylinRed 01-28-2015 02:04 AM

Just saw this bag on kickstarter, looks like a school bag and you take out the inner camera case and use it as a school bag if you wanted

I was hoping to find something discreet as well, the kickstarter one would be ideal but it says estimated delivery date is July 2015 (will probably be travelling by then already). Also, as yray pointed: out

Ur right! That's probably why they got it laid flat in the .gif demo!

I use a Lowepro Photo Sport. I like that it doesn't look like a traditional camera backpack.

That's a bag I have been considering - do you use the tripod attachment? If so, how big of a tripod do you think you could attach comfortably? Trying to find something that will work for my Gitzo 3 series, it's about 6" wide and ~22" long without head.

If I take a tripod it's usually a more compact one. I'll pull my bag out this weekend and take some measurements for you.

CanonŽ SL1 Digital Camera Kit - Sears | Sears Canada

Sears website bugged. PM'd successfully at Target for the SL1 w 18-55mm kit.

SONY a5000 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm lens - ILCE5000LB | Walmart.ca

taken from rfd. what a hot deal! A few months ago I bought one from a friend who works at bbuy for $420, and that was with staff discount.

Mr.HappySilp 06-23-2015 04:30 PM

Need a new camera. Drop my Canon Powershot SX700 during my trip and the motor is gone ><. Looking for something around the price range of $200 to $400. Some people suggest I should just spend more and get a DSLR but carrying it around just seems too much weight.

However gf really wanted a DSLR so i might cave in......... really tore what to get.

Does she want it because she wants to be able to switch lenses (that you inevitably have to bring where you go)? Or does she want it because she sees friends use them, see their great photos, and thinks that's the only way to get great photos?

If you answer yes to wanting to use different lenses, then you can look at a dslr or mirrorless ilc. If she associates "good photo quality" with a dslr, don't buy one because you'll likely post it on CL shortly after buying.

If you really want to go the dslr route, you should think to buy used to see how you like that type of system before committing money further.

Nismo200SX 06-25-2015 02:52 PM

This is a really hot deal for bundle.
A5000 + 16-50 + 55-210 + Sony bag and lens cloth. for $599 You could easiky sell the zoom but its worth keeping since its a really good performer for a kit zoom.

Sony ILCE5000LBKITL 20.1MP Camera Bundle with 2 Lens SELP1650 and SEL55210B plus Carry Case LCSU21B and Lens Cloth - Black | Bundles | Ratings & Reviews | TheSource.ca

Otherwise the A6000 is now still a fairly hot buy now that Sony finally gave it XAVC-S 50Mb/s in the latest firmware update. And the A7000 apparently delayed till 2016

Ronin 06-25-2015 02:59 PM

A5000 will be $399 with 16-50 on Friday.

twitchyzero 06-25-2015 10:02 PM

A5K is pretty good at $400...okay @ $600 with the kit telephoto + bag. I say this because it's practically an upgraded NEX-3, where A5100 is more akin to a NEX-5.

yep I'm shocked XAVCS is now on the A6K, there's no room for a replacement/upper tier this year unless they add 4K and IBIS...which would likely shoot up to $1000 anyways...might as well buy the A7ii with that budget.
