I'm sold on these Transcend cards. 32GB for $40 is a good deal. Write is fast enough for normal use (~30-35MB/s) but read speed is smokin'! 110MB/s on my cheapo Kingston USB 3.0 reader. Transfered 8GB of video in less than a minute. In comparison, my Patriot Class 10 EP Series 32GB SD plugged into the MBP SD card slot has taken about 8 minutes to transfer 22GB. |
^awesome. I just ordered one from Newegg to try it out. Should be here in a few days. |
The $10 shipping keeps me from buying anything from NewEgg. |
I need some big CF cards. I have $200 credit at Broadway Camera, but they're stupid expensive there. Posted via RS Mobile |
$200 might buy you a single 32GB 600x card at Broadway after taxes. :lol Save the credit for later or sell it and use it at B&H or Adorama. If you want to buy local, I can hook you up at London Drugs. |
Is anyone looking for lighting equipment or a cheap, but solid tripod? I might be picking up some stuff from a place in Richmond that sells OEM and China brand equipment. Don't let that scare you, though...it's the sort of higher quality shit that budget filmmakers like cheesycam and such talk about all the time. I have a product shot setup from them that I've used for 7-8 years now. http://stores.ebay.ca/stylist-store/ If anyone wants anything, let me know and I'll put together an order. Maybe they'll give me a bit of a break on the prices. |

Not in Canada. We get shafted here...US always has better prices, which is why I do almost all my shopping via Point Roberts. |
I do that if there's a bigger benefit. For something so inexpensive I'll just ship it here. |
Meh, takes 15 minutes or less for me to get there and I get to gas up at US rates (save about 20c a liter) and buy American chocolate milk. And usually pick up more than one thing at once. |
The Manfrotto tripod mentioned earlier in this thread at Best Buy is back at $50. 10 in stock online at the moment. |
^ That's pretty sweet. I would like a new tripod as my old manfrotto is super lame but I would like something for heavy equipment. Something that can easily hold a 300mm f/2.8 |
Yeah, that tripod won't hold anything heavy. |
I think it's rated for about 4.4lbs. Too lazy to look at the box. |
B&H is giving away a free 16 mm pancake lens when you buy any Sony NEX camera, even if it's just the body. |
Cheapk Nikon 50mm at $119. Price match Memory Express to get a few more dollars off. Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Lens : Standard Lenses - Best Buy Canada |

Kingston Portable USB 3.0 HI-SPEED Media Reader I use this. Works. PM at Memory Express if you want to cut that price to $15: Kingston USB 3.0 Hi-Speed Media Reader at Memory Express |
BTW: if you don't really care about speed, B&H has Kingston 266x CF 16GB cards for $16. $1/GB is a pretty good price. Kingston 16GB CompactFlash Memory Card Ultimate 266x CF/16GB-U2 |

I've bought light stands, umbrella flash brackets, collapsable 5x7 double sided background, and 160LED video lights (which work quite well BTW) Actually dropped one already, while it was mounted on nex7 on manfrotto 562 video monopod. the only thing that broke was the removale plastic mount that connects the LED light to the hotshoe. replaceable, the Light still works and dimmer still works. so no complaints here. a buddy bought the CFL video lights and they worked really well he said. I think Inspiron Photo sponsors some workshops around town. |
