I haven't seen Mitsubishi FTO...I know it's a bit off topic but I thought I'd see a few in Canada

you can't look at importing cars for values based on performance...for a lot of us it's nostalgia...the cars we admired when we were younger and have been yearning for year after year.

i wouldnt say that the r35 is exactly the computer drives for you
even if you have a r35 and drive it at the track, it does not automatically give you a super fast lap time. it still relies on the driver

but i do agree on the nostalgia part,
r34 just seems so legendary compared to the r35

When's the last time you saw a R34 that hasn't been molested by tuners? This is only the second one I know of, the other belongs to Nissan UK's heritage fleet.

Theres lots in Japan. R34's are not so much a tuner car. They are revered in Japan and are very expensive so you don't have typical drift/tuner kids modyfing them.

Quick interest check:

Who's planning on buying a 99 GT-R base or V-spec?

Who will wait for the 2000 V spec II?

And who will drop R35 money on an M spec or a Nur? :troll:

Wife already said I could buy the car of my dreams in 3 years.
On my list is either a P car so I can fulfill my dream of being Marco911's twin or an R34 and be Timpo's imaginary best friend. :troll:

I looked at prices and balked. 3 million yen for a 15 year old car? Bringing it to Canada is going to be $40k minimum.

I'd rather have an Accord Euro R, Silvia Spec R, Impreza 22B, Evo VI Tommi Makinen or Eurospec E36 M3

twitchyzero 09-05-2013 11:28 AM

V-Spec II is nicer than the original V-Spec...not to mention way more were produced so it won't completely break the bank.

I wonder if we'll ever see a V-Spec II Nur in Vancouver :ahwow:

Are JDM cars eligible for Collector's?

Quote:

Standard Cars = 3,965
V-Spec = 1,309
V-Spec UK = 98
V-Spec N1 = 45
V-Spec II = 5,512
V-Spec II Nür = 750
V-Spec II N1 = 18
M-Spec = 228[18]
M-Spec Nür = 250
Total = 12,175

It's a toss up. Only 750 were made, and the original markets (Japan, Aus, NZ, UK, Hong Kong) have snapped up most of them. Then there's the fact that it'll probably cost $100k+ to bring one over, and for that money you can get a brand new R35 Black Edition as has been said many times in this thread. And with the maintenance (few people want to deal with buying parts from Japan), my educated guess is "not very likely". At least not for another decade or so (it's a 2002 car)

drove a friend's r34 gt the other day, was really disappointed, no power and suspension feels like an accord... sad must wait for 34 GTR

Welcome to Feast Auto Group | Feast Auto Group is the only one coming to mind at the moment but there are obviously others... or try asking on GT-R Canada.

there is a local company called fraser valley imports brings in cars for several exporters. maybe they might have an opinion based on the quality of the cars that are brought in.

actually not really. First off, shipping a car is about 100,000JPY and exporters typically charge around the same for their services. Secondly, I've been watching the auctions and some very clean '99 spec GTR's are going for under 3 million. So roughly 3 million to get it here. Then another 2-3k to get it on the road. If I had the money, I'd be buying one now and having it wait in Japan until January but unfortunately I can only afford a GTT.

Mark at Brave Auto or Derek at Pacific Coast JDM. Both stand up guys who are very nice to deal with. Mark also offers free storage until the car is legal for import.

I used Derek for my R34, but Mark has snagged a GTR already for another member on GTRC. Also, Fraser Valley Imports (whom is a friend) uses both. Can't go wrong with either, but if you need to store it until next year then I would go with Brave Auto.
