I'm sure I'm in the minority here (as I seem to be for a lot of things when it comes to gaming lol) but I usually buy most of my games used, apart from a couple of blockbuster releases that I can't wait for.
Any word on required internet connectivity in order to play games?
Used game buyers may not yet be the minority... But having drm on disc based games is a good thing in a way. Look at what it did for pc gaming. NOBODY buys games on disc anymore. And because of that, we see crazy price drops and sales all the time.mevery week there is a new sale on steam, new humble bundles, etc. then look at iOS where there are games that go on sale for $1 or even free for a period if time. You never see steam or iOS gamers complaining about this, nor the lack of being able to sell their games.
This can only be done if games are not disc based. Microsoft is essentially turning discs into a means of content delivery. They only exist as an alternative to a big download. Since they basically turned into steam on consoles, I would expect similar strategies to occur.
I suppose ps4 could do the same thing with downloadable games anyway... In that case the disc and used games would die a slower death on that side.
hasn't sony always sold the playstation at a loss? not a surprise imo
Yup they are, but I don't expect the lost to be as much as the PS3. Not my problem if they sell at a lost. Just a win for consumers.
I am almost certain there will be more than one SKU for PS3. The launch console will be $399 and the other SKUs are probably gonna be bundled with EYE or something. I bet they switched up their presentations last minute to not announce the other SKUs in order to "take" E3 from Microsoft.

ah i see, well they didn't give a month for release unless i missed it? simply said Holiday 2013 so maybe it'll come out later than xbox so they felt they had to cut the price
There was no way they would have made it 600 bucks again, they knew they fucked up last time with that. Definitely sold on the PS4 over the Xbox One. When it comes to gaming they are going to be 90% the same games anyways, being able to borrow and lend games to my friends makes it that much easier of a choice.
Me I'm not buying either. A $200 gpu looks just as good, $300 even better. None of the console exclusive games impressed me or made me think it would be worth paying $400-500 to play them. Forza was probably the best but not worth the expense of a new platform.
If there were 10 games I was interested in that would never be on pc then I may consider it. I just feel let down by last gene where games quickly became too ugly and slow to bother playing on console. Just the occasional first party game. But that's not worth $500
Apparently, it'll cost money to play on multiplayer now, but it's <$5 so it's not too bad. They'll make more profit off this too.
I can't see myself playing any online PS4 games except for maybe Gran Turismo
Guess I'll make the most out of Starhawk and Last of Us multiplayer this gen

+1
I'll wait for the slim to go on sale for $199
I'll need another 3-4 years to defeat my 80 something PS3/PC game backlog anyways
Only thing that sorta sucks is that we now gotta subscribe to playstation plus to play online. Atleast thats wat i took away from the presentation. correct me if im wrong.
So I made a little comment in the Xbox thread the other day about what Microsoft was doing and what direction they were going in with the Xbox one, I stated I did not like it.... and a few guys in that thread quickly tried to point out I must be in the minority and out of touch with the times..... minority eh
"Seriously, people are going crazy. Twitter and forums are overflowing with people declaring everything from "BEST E3 EVER" to "RIP XBOX ONE". I've been doing this job for a long time now, and I've never seen a reaction like it.
By listening to how upset people had become over Microsoft's restrictions and demands, and catering their console to appeal to them, Sony has instantly won itself legions of Xbox converts and new fans"

If you've been paying attention during the last console generation, what people say on the internet has little bearing on what happens in real life.
