hell i wish i bought more ADA at $1.60 last week lol
i was SLOW to getting into crypto and really on started in May (at the high point obviously) so since then i was buying them as they dropped and a good bit at the latest low point
here we go again, WISH I HAD done all this 4 years ago when i first tried but definitely a lot easier now do it then it was then.

If you really wanted to mine, even buying the scalper non-LHR 3080s for like $2000 is probably worth it.
Profitability is around $8-9 a day right now. It'll take you around 8 months at current rate, less/more depending on price of cryptocurrency.
Say you mine for 3 months and BTC crashes back to $20,000 and profitability is slashed in half. You've still mined around $720 in crypto (assuming you've been selling on a regular basis) and your card is likely still to be worth at least MSRP if you want to get out.
Of course, you can also continue to mine at $4 a day although your timeframe to break even on the cost of the card will take you an additional 10 months.

And the other coins raven/ergo won't be able to handle all that hashrate moving into them, so profitability will plummet way more than half until maybe a coin shoots up in value/space to handle that load
Plus the electricity costs, about 1-1.5weeks a month of mining will be to pay for that electricity use
So your calculations on roi will change significantly

I think the risk is relatively low simply because you can resell your cards to recoup on equipment cost.
The semi-conductor shortage is going to go well into 2022-2023 so prices are going to stay quite high for the next little while.

People's main "issue" with crypto is "what's the value?" Well besides "people are willing to buy it right now". The value of bitcoin is that it can be used as a currency. My bags have been switching around to get rid of shitcoins when they were pumping and putting them in more interesting projects:
Eth
Ada
Sol
then still holding shitcoins - Kin and Zil
I dont own a single satoshi(btc)
preferably the merge doesnt happen until the later part of Q1 2022. ill still mine after even if it isnt overly profitable, put a rig on RVN and a rig on ERGO, both dual mining with ZIL
