New all time high. 71k usd currently

PeanutButter 03-11-2024 04:10 PM

BTC has legs. Not sure if it'll make it to $100k. I'm thinking it'll top out at $92k USD and then fall to $40k.

If that's what you think, shouldn't you put everything you've got into it right now? 71->92k would be like a 30% return

It would depend on your investment theory and your portfolio management.

There's no delusion on my part, I believe crypto is highly speculative. Which means one should typically not invest more than 5% of their portfolio in a particular speculative asset.

For me, crypto is already above 5% of my portfolio, so it would not be prudent portfolio management to put more into crypto, regardless if I think it's going to moon or not.

I've been investing long enough to not get as emotional as I once did. So my decisions are a little more calculated now.

Since BTC hit $70k USD, I sold my first traunch. So i'll be sticking to my sell strategy that I posted in the previous page. A lot less emotion this time around, which is a pretty cool feeling.

Finally making some returns in my TFSA on my Bitcoin ETF I purchased when it launched a few years ago.

My cousin said the same thing last week. I convinced her to sell half of it yesterday. She was up 55% on her BTC ETF.

When it was down like 70% she was freaking out. The only reason she didn't sell at the bottom was that I guaranteed her investment. I told her I would buy the ETF from her at her book value (~$6k) if she needed the cash.

She shouldn't be holding BTC, she's a super conservative and it took a lot of convincing to get her to buy the S&P and Nasdaq index. So I told her that she needs to sell half, take her principle out and then let the rest ride so she doesn't have to freak out about it, because I know it's going to go to the shitter again.

She'll probably miss out on some short-term gains, but this way she will have peace of mind and not freak out when it drops and she still has skin in the game so it's a win-win.

Also, a coworker just asked me if he should buy gold.

Long story short, bull run confirmed. Strap in boys.

When people start asking me if they should buy BTC, I know the top is in. I'll update when someone asks me..lol

You're right. All of my friends who got into BTC early (ie. in the hundreds) sold when they made ~5-20x their investments - high hundreds or several thousand per BTC. Some have moved on, others ended up buying back in when BTC was 5 figures over the last few years.

not yet... not just co-worker, but uncles and aunties that know nothing about cypto... or even how to use their own phones...

when they start asking, that's when you start to sell chunks at a time.

Another coworker just asked me to help him buy one share of NVDA today.

The top of NVDA might be close.

This was the same coworker who bought btc at $60k during 2020 bull run. And I asked him last week about his btc and he said he sold it last year =/

mikemhg 03-15-2024 10:56 AM

Breaks my heart I was going to buy NVIDIA stock back in 2022 before they announced pivoting into AI chipsets.

Now they're up 85%+ since then.

God damnit.

PeanutButter 03-15-2024 04:16 PM

The crazy thing about NVDA stock right now is it's technically a better value right now due to their latest earnings than it was a month ago when it was $600.

Their latest earnings were so massive it made their valuation better, even at these prices. Insane.

the "shoulda/coulda" game is a vicious one.

look at SOL, bought some at $70, the more up to about $130...$270 now and climbing

whitev70r 03-20-2024 06:46 AM

You were right, has Bitcoin reached this peak cycle and starting its descent?

What's the play for you? Long and strong or are you going to take some profits?

68style 03-20-2024 10:42 AM

Didn't you read the peeing threads awhile back? Hondaracer only knows long and strong

Hondaracer 03-20-2024 10:55 AM

Probably hold for the long term. I’m a bad investor that I never take profits until it’s too late lol

Although.. I have made some moves dumping my Covid investments in bullshit like cruise lines etc. probably should have made moves earlier however still walked away with a tidy profit

PeanutButter 03-22-2024 09:29 AM

Oh no.

Guy at work just asked me what the Bitcoin halving is.

This is the same guy who bought BTC back in 2020 and sold it last year.

Dang, now I feel like BTC isn't going to run. This guy is too early.

Manic! 05-23-2024 08:05 AM

So I see this old guy shoving money into the bitcoin machine. He says he is sending money to his wife. I try to tell him he is being scammed. he keeps telling me he knows what he is doing. He tells me to google his name. I did. Well he is a notorious drug smuggler that got early release. I laughed and left him alone. He thanked me before he left.

I got a scam call from "Ledger" yesterday.

They said my Ledger online was compromised and they recommended that I stop using my Ledger wallet. It was a european guy calling, sounded like a french english accent.

Anyway, I think I figured out their play. He was wanting to send me a brand new ledger to use as a replacement and as soon as I received it, I should move my crypto onto the new ledger wallet. I suspect they had the private keys of the new ledger and as soon as I moved my crypto over, they would have access to it.

It was pretty sophisticated as he knew my name, phone number, and knew I had a ledger wallet. He sent me an email from support@ledger.fr and it looked pretty legit. Which means my info is definitely out there, which is kind of scary.

I contacted Ledger and via chat and they said they do not do phone support at all. It is a common phishing scam.

Be careful out there, friends.

Thanks for sharing. That's pretty crazy how they have all that info.

donk. 06-03-2024 03:59 PM

Go on darkweb
Buy stolen ledger data
Contact all users
Send 100$ nano
Profit

The future of scams is going to get pretty sophisticated
