Are you still around? I need to buy some BTC (about $200 USD) but the only places I see are expensive ATMs or walk in shops with super high fees or big minimum purchases.

I miss localbitcoins FeelsBadMan

Localbitcoin got killed by Binance P2p.

Have you tried it yet?

I've personally been to the Coinmetaverse one in TST. Cash transactions right at the counter. There is no fee other than the spread. Your $200 USD would be welcome there.
You do need an account with binance. which is not an issue in Hong Kong, you just wont be allow to trade futures.

So there's a place in TST called Coinmetaverse that I can go straight up buy Bitcoin for cash? Without a ridiculous spread like the ATMs (and also a flat $100 HKD fee)? Sign me up!

I can't find it on google maps though.

Are you not able to send money directly to Binance?

Shakepay in Canada is nice and convenient since you can eTransfer directly to it.

You get this error message when you go to that site, so I never bothered looking further. I assumed this means it's banned here, otherwise they wouldn't make it a popup

donk. 07-18-2023 04:55 PM

Buy a VPN for 20$, then you can be in Hong Kong.

Yes Binance is technically banned.

But binance p2p is a platform that facilitates the peer-to-peer transaction of crypto between user. So technically NOT an official binance function :fullofwin:

Catch here is you buy usdt NOT btc. You would need either trade USDT to BTC on binance if they allow it. Or withdraw from binance to else where.
Even if the exchange is banned, withdraw is always allow. Find a way any way to sign up for an account.

This is available in literally every single country where binance is officially banned.

NDAX in canada is also super easy to use and e-transfers are fast

Quote:

Police in Richmond and Delta, B.C., are warning the public of a disturbing trend of high-value cryptocurrency investors being targeted for home invasions.

Richmond RCMP and Delta Police say they have responded to several calls of reported robberies in the homes of cryptocurrency investors over the past year.

Staff Sgt. Gene Hsieh with Richmond RCMP major crimes says police are issuing the warning to the public because the robberies appear to be aimed at high-value cryptocurrency investors.

Investigators say they have made an arrest in one case, and are working to confirm if the robberies are related.

Mounties and the Delta Police say the culprits in each case have posed as delivery people or “persons of authority” to gain access to victims’ homes where they rob people of the information needed to access cryptocurrency accounts.

Police say they’re not releasing details of any of the incidents or the amounts of cryptocurrency involved because their investigations are ongoing.
I guess this is why they suggest using a vpn for mining and ur transactions?

$10 say the guys that got robbed because they were showing off.

VPN is suggested mostly to hide yourself from Big Brother.

Binance isn't compliant in Hong Kong anymore. If you havn't sign up for an account, you might not be able to anymore. OKX is the new asian centralize exchange. The same p2p shop thats in binance also operates on OKX, at near spot USDT price

But you know bitcoin IS GOING TO FUCKING ZERO :hotbaby:

If that's sarcasm, you should know I've supported Bitcoin 100% since it started, all through the ups and downs, until now. It's the shitcoins and NFTs that I shit on. It's all on record right here!

whitev70r 12-05-2023 06:17 AM

What's behind the recent rise of bitcoin?

68style 12-05-2023 07:06 AM

^ It's won some legal battles with the SEC to be considered as an ETF that can be bought up as such by retirement funds, specifically Blackrock and others.

whitev70r 12-05-2023 08:22 AM

^ so we can expect to see a steady rise over the next few weeks?

68style 12-05-2023 09:37 AM

I mean... it happened like almost 2 months ago? And it didn't do much after a sudden surge at that time... so I'm not so sure lol... all the BTC fanboys out there will for sure tell you it's just a matter of time

PeanutButter 12-05-2023 10:17 AM

The entire stock market is up. Rising tide raises all ships.
S&P up 19% YTD
Nasdaq 100 up 46% YTD

2024 is the next BTC halving as well, so that helps i'm sure.

And most importantly, people are getting horny again. 2020 was almost four years ago, it's time for another pump! I'm just waiting for all the backyard warren buffets to start coming out again.

Just remember, when your receptionist is talking about BTC, it's probably time to take some off the table.

mikemhg 12-05-2023 12:02 PM

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with pension funds investing into crypto, to be honest.

I don't think many are. And if they do, I can't see it being more than 1% of the total portfolio.

That might be true, but Blackrock's portfolio is estimated to be worth $3,477,455,768,419. 3.5 Trillion $$$$.

So even just 1% of that is $34 billion.

That's a lot of BTC. 750,000+ bitcoins at the current price to be exact.

Badhobz 12-05-2023 01:11 PM

Anyone want any hobzcoin ?! Can redeem for goods and services in Richmond. :heckno:

68style 12-05-2023 01:12 PM

Why does the price graph of hobzcoin look like a dick?
