I wasn't sure if it was simply because the pour from a few months ago was because the bottle was opened for a good month and air had altered the scent and notes. I think this thread has confirmed it for me that it is different.
I don't quite like it

Is there any physical marking/difference between the batches for the harvest rye? Is there a way to tell if the bottle in stores are the new CRHY or the older original run?

I'm not sure .. Under close examination of a bottle I did find these numbers
L5345 N3 12:27
I'm sure it stands for production and batch number. Which batch is good, I have
No idea.

Damn. Tried the crown royal northern harvest first time.. And I very much dislike it, had to mix with soda just to finish my drink. Reminds me of Woodford reserve which I also dislike ...maybe just not in strong rye flavors...
On that note...anybody here like potato vodka over grain.....?

It's just a mindfuck, it's 100% identical. No one could tell the difference. Blindfolded it's like flipping a coin.
It's now $39.99 but $3 off this month at BC Liquor.

I've read reviews and they've all been horrible. Said the best part of pour was when it went down the drain

i'd go with bulleit
it's the most versatile one imo...not too exp, not too cheap and always smooth
i like my expensive bourbons neat

+1 knob creek. The Nikka barrel is not bad too. As is the Toki if you want a Japanese Old Fashioned.

I make my old fashioneds at home with bulleit. It's readily available and won't break the bank and tastes pretty damn good for what you're paying.

Picked up a few bottles during my U.S. trip this month. Really looking forward to trying out the Macallan 15 Fine.
Macallan 15 Fine came to $109 U.S tax in.
Macallan 12 double cask came to $80 U.S. tax in.
and Yamazaki 12 came to $108 U.S. tax in.
