What?

Isn't that only if his qualifying offer is for one year? Isn't he allowed to sign for longer?

Gh0stRider 01-18-2014 09:13 AM

@DNFlyers: Sounds like Steve Mason deal is done, as first reported by @Real_ESPNLeBrun. 3 years, $12.3 million. Flyers didn't want to go beyond 3 years

Yes he is. Think of the top-end young players (the ones that are ~22-25 like E. Kane, Duchene, Pietrangelo, Karlsson, etc.). In those cases they likely signed a long-term second contract so that they're made happy by their club, and also the club keeps them for a longer period of time.

ROR as a RFA was qualified by the Avs, but (allegedly, says Pierre McGuire) his agents told him to hold out for a longer/more lucrative contract as they thought that ROR was worth more than the qualifying offer (which was likely true). This was on the heels of the Avs signing Matt Duchene to his second deal (at big money/term). Fast-forward, and the Flames offer-sheet ROR for a 2 year deal. Since the end of that deal brings him below the UFA age, he's still RFA until 2016 if he continues to be qualified by his controlling club. That's unless he's signed long-term. If the latter occurs, then he's UFA at the end of the long deal.

jeedee 01-18-2014 09:23 AM

Ah right. Forgot the Flames tried offer-sheeting him lol

Torts says Henrik Sedin game -time decision. Burrows in, Booth in, Kellan Lain in. Santorelli out. #Canucks

Vancouver Canucks ‏@VanCanucks 7m
Starting goaltender will be a game time decision.

Hopefully Burr coming back brings something to the team. You have to think Calgary is a good team to get Lain started on his NHL career.

In a perfect world, Hank would just sit out and let that injury heal. Every year he gets injured and plays through it. Every time he insists he's ok, but it's always obvious that whatever nags him affects his ability to play at the level he should be playing at (age considered).

With this year pretty much being a write-off, I don't see why Hank has to keep the streak going at the expense of being crappy on the ice. Even if they make the playoffs, which is slowly slipping out of their grasp, they're going nowhere barring unforeseen meteor strikes on the rinks of LA, STL, CHI, ANA, and SJ while they're all playing at home.

Not really racist! 01-18-2014 11:21 AM

Santo seen with a sling on his arm.. hopefully only a couple games

So I guess Lu has a chance of playing tonite, watch Hank just step on the ice and do a circle and then head back to the locker room

Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff 28m
#Canucks Schroeder says injured leg feels good. Ready for full practice now. Hoping to play soon, but not putting time frame on return

Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff 27m
#Canucks Stanton says hopes to be back 'fairly soon'. No set date, but building up each day and getting back into game shape

Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff 1h
Looks like Burrows gets back in and goes to front of net on #Canucks PP1. That unit spending time working on things this a-m

Yeah I feel the same, especially against a shitty team like Calgary. The iron man streak really doesn't mean anything at all, a healthy Hank > the streak any day.

Martin St. Louis with a solid 4 goals in the first period against the Sharks. Guy is having a great year.

radioman 01-18-2014 12:54 PM

He scored the 4th in the second on a power play.
Still very impressive.

Mike Oxbig 01-18-2014 01:07 PM

Stamkos should just give his spot to st.louis

At this point why not just dress him, let him play a shift and take him off the ice? Or is that cheating...

MG1 01-18-2014 06:05 PM

Burrows is in? Hell, we gonna win tonight!!!!!!

He's the only real hockey player we got on the team, atm.
