As much as I don't like this deal, I've been thinking:
  • Looking at that sample schedule, you can't really deny that there is the possibility of a ton of games. Given the popularity of hockey in Canada, I'm sure the demand is there.
  • For the increased coverage, they're going to have to pick off some of the TSN personalities. Again, likely, the ex-NHLers.
  • I'm going to miss the intermission shows with the TSN panel :(

Every NHL game will be available on SAT, SUN, and WED on cable without the CI/GCL package. Nice

Hondaracer 11-26-2013 09:08 AM

Sportsnet will probably poach the TSN panel

Listening to Mac today on the team. You could just hear it in his voice that he's torn. They asked if he'd be willing to move basically and he said he wasn't going to even bother thinking about that.

I hate extremely long contracts like this.
What happens if we need to make a trade later on :troll:

We'll have to take a contract back.

Hopefully the CRTC doesn't impose some new rules a few years from now that will completely screw us over, like a salary recapture if Rogers retires early. Would make it impossible to get out of this.

-keeping fingers crossed that Stamkos comes back before the end of this season. There's hope for my hockey pool team. :fullofwin:

My guess is a robot leg. Hence the pants.

It looks like he's might actually make it to Sochi. Seeing that walk must be good news for Stevie Y.

Hondaracer 11-26-2013 11:48 AM

I think he makes it

I heard that he was putting weight on it, 2 days after surgery. That's fucking insane.

m3thods 11-26-2013 12:39 PM

Stevie is probably showing him around like a prize horse to throw some doubt and fear at the other national teams. This is almost too good to be true. Hopefully when he does come back (which looks like late December/early January at this apparent pace), he doesn't pull a Derek Rose lol

HonestTea 11-26-2013 12:47 PM

I just hope Stammer doesn't rush coming back and have it injured again.

While Stamkos' recovery is amazing, don't forget that us mortals don't have the luxury of spending the whole day rehabbing from an injury...

m3thods 11-26-2013 01:44 PM

^True, but a broken bone is a broken bone. In most cases, it's a similar amount of time for most people to recover from the actual break, with the time it takes to get close to 100% being longer with normal folk without access to the same rehab practices as professional athletes.

That said, people in Stammer's situation have access to the best medicine practices and tools, which can surely help reduce the healing time of the bone.

No-contact hockey here we come. Hopefully just a bad call.

That would've been a shoulder to chin/head had the CBJ got not dodged at the last second. I maintain though still the guys fault for watching the puck

TSN Power Rankings:

This Week13Last Week12Vancouver Canucks12-9-4

1-1-1 over the last week might actually count as progress for the Canucks, at least in terms of recent results, but they remain one of the league's better possession teams that needs to finish more and maybe get better than below-average goaltending.
Key Injuries: None.

:lawl:

That's a bit harsh, but he does have to stop letting in those softies.

Jmac 11-26-2013 06:59 PM

2-3 goals allowed per game is average ...

Also, a lot of the goals against have been on 2-on-1s

OGCStrike 11-26-2013 06:59 PM

not Canucks, but big hit by archibald (canucks prospect)

I think its the 7 goals on the first shot that contributed to that comment.. not acceptable for an NHL tender IMO.

Gh0stRider 11-26-2013 07:11 PM

damn, stars scored 3 goals in 53 seconds.
