I'm looking at getting 900L of diesel

Tax percentage is up to the border guard I think.

When I just brought up 80L of gas, I got taxed 15% :okay:

is it cheaper than point Roberts?

TypeRNammer 02-01-2014 10:30 AM

Shell gas station Blaine

0.895 regular
0.935 mid grade
0.961 premium

That's the price converted into litres and USD currently.

saveth 02-01-2014 10:31 AM

Yes
Its 3.17 in Bellingham and 3.35 in Blaine on d street. I never Fil up at the gas stations as soon as you cross at truck crossing. I always take a right at d street and drive to the gas stations 1 km down the street. Remember the speed limit is 25mph, which is 40kph

Just got back from a quick trip. Went to Northwoods Casino where I got 100 CAD for 100 USD. They're offering this Fridays and Saturdays for the month of February. You need to be member and they give you a voucher. I go there all the time so I keep it and cash out next time I'm there. Gas in Sumas this morning was $3.23/gal.

It's only 100 bucks. One voucher per member per day.

I work less than 30 minutes away from the casino, so there's 4 Fridays left in February. Get gas, get USD at par......... win!

I'm hoping other casinos will catch on. It's a good way to get Canadians back into the casinos.

There might be transport Canada regulations you may need to follow transporting 900 liters...check before you go.

Is there any way of accessing the Nexus lanes after going to a Duty Free store on the US side?

m3thods 02-09-2014 10:35 PM

^Which crossing? Pacific?

jing 02-09-2014 10:49 PM

Pacific would be ideal, yes.

You have to cut through 3 lanes. Try flashing your nexus card to other drivers and hopefully they let you in. If you did that and I saw you, I would let you in.

The Nexus line is blocked off with cones IIRC, unless it's changed since the last time I've been there which was a month or two ago

The dollar is slowly, ever so slowly, going up. It has finally broken the 91 cent mark. Hopefully, the exchange rate will be better by summer. If it reaches parity, I'm going to exchange a lot more than I did last time to get me through the lean winter months, LOL.

saveth 03-06-2014 09:16 AM

12 pack of mgd 16oz cans are 10.50 at rite aid in Blaine. I bought a case on Tuesday and was worth the money.

Hehe 03-06-2014 10:06 AM

MG1, if you want to convert CAD to USD, PM me. We could avoid dealing with exchanges all together.

A part of my income is in USD and I am almost always looking to exchange some (around 3k a month). Win win for both of us. :D

The corner before the line curves right in the regular lanes has a car-sized gap in the cones. But that's a tricky cut across the 3 lanes to get there. And even if you can get there, the Nexus lineup has to be pretty much 4 cars long for you to cut in, otherwise you're relying on another car (this time in the Nexus lane) to let you in. Pretty much impossible in a long wait.

Was there and checked it out last Wednesday.

Possible to cross tomorrow with a passport that expires today?
Long story short, bought seat brackets and hardware, I was given 1 tracking and it said delivered. Went there and all I got was the bolts and nuts and inside had a note telling me that the brackets themselves were shipping from another warehouse so I wasted my time driving down
Got an e-mail telling me another package arrived a hour ago, but the place closes at 6 and passport expires today :(

IMASA 03-11-2014 05:40 PM

Nope.

Travelling in North America - Passport Canada

Travelling to the United States

All travellers, including US and Canadian citizens, must present a valid passport or other approved secure document when entering the United States.

Although many countries require that a passport be valid at least six months beyond the duration of your stay, American authorities currently state that as a Canadian: "Your passport only needs to be valid for the duration of your planned trip to the U.S."

Amuse 03-30-2014 04:49 PM

I came back with 45L of gas in jerry cans today (2x 20L, 1x5L)
The border guard checked my trunk and warned me that I would need to declare and pay a levy and GST on fuel coming back to Canada.
I never declare my fuel but are we supposed to?
