Hmmmmmm........... maybe head down to Everett Trader Joe's. Not too many crazy Canadians that far south. There are a few interesting places in Everett I would like to go see again. If traffic isn't too bad, maybe go as far as Lynnwood. And, get the hell out of that area by like 1:00 pm.

Found the Garmin, but can't find the power cord with the traffic receiver thingy. Free lifetime maps and traffic updates, ftmfw!

BTW, while in the Seattle/Renton area on Wednesday, I did not see a single out of country license plate. I had my BC Lions and Blue Jays decals on my rear window. Gas attendant at Costco was like so excited to see the BC Lions logo. He's from the Bay area, but his dad was from Vancouver. He went on and on about how cool Empire Stadium was, lol.

I headed down today for one last pickup before they shut it all down again. I went to Everett today since I swore I'd never go to Bellingham TJ's. It's a little bitty one - probably half the size of Bellingham, so I'd say drive the extra 10 miles and go to Lynwood instead. Not super busy, and definitely wasn't the gong show that Bellingham was. Was pretty well stocked, but doesn't have the same selection as Bellingham. Also checked out the Costco in Everett (looking for the Honolulu Cookie mini shortbread cookies which they didn't have...) and not super busy there either. Didn't see a whole lot of BC plates in Everett either.

Came back with $350 worth of stuff - about $180 of groceries, and the rest stuff I picked up or non food items. they didn't care and waved me through.

Wait coming back through Nexus was short. 2 mins and we were through. Sign was showing 65 mins for the regular lane - stretched all the way back to the start of the Nexus lane at the Peace Arch crossing. Feeling a bit sad that this all came to and end so soon.

Great minds think alike.......... I'm heading down to Lynwood early Sunday. It's a weekend so no rush hour traffic. Most people sleep in or go to church in the morning, so should be good. I remember going to the Daiso in Lynwood. Will check it out again. Alderwood Mall, maybe. Somewhere along the way is a very nice Fred Meyers. I plan on staying at the casinos until the border line ups die down. I haven't been to Northwoods Casino in such a long time. Maybe I'll head over there. So close to the Aldergrove border crossing. Open till midnight, though...........

Damn, this Lynwood Trader Joe’s is awesome! Free strong paper shopping bags with handles. Double bagged to boot. Nice design, too. Even their washroom is Texas size, lol. A good start to the last Border run. I’m at the nearest McDonald’s and their lounge is closed. So was the one in Marysville. Drive Thru only.

Off to Winco for sugarless malt balls and King Mix (used to be called Samurai Mix) peanuts covered in rice cracker shell. They even have what used to be called “Suzume no Tamago,” which translates to Swallow’s Egg. Used to have them when I was a kid. Hadn’t seen them anywhere till I went to the bulk section at Winco in Bellingham two weeks ago.

I crossed at 5:30 in the morning. I was fifth car in the line up. One car took 15 minutes to get waived through. I look behind me and the line up was to the arch.

They open up more lanes later, so might be better by now.

Edit: never mind. Just saw time you posted. I didn’t see any BC plates, so you’re probably in the border lineup, hee hee. I got to TJ just when they opened the doors at 8:00 am.

Damn, not sure which road it was, but Hory Cow, it was brutal. I don’t think I’ve ever driven on such a shitty road before in my life. If it had a face, it would be Vansterdam’s gf, Integra Girl. More potholes (more like sinkholes), dips and gouges, than Joan Watson has outfits. It’s the road where the Fred Meyer from Texas is on. I’ve never seen a FM that big. Okay, maybe the one with two floors. I was planning on going to Seattle Premium, but the line up getting to the on ramp was more than a mile long. Right before that gong show, this pedo van loses a ladder on the freeway right in front of me. It’s 1/4 of the way into my lane with traffic to the left of me, I squeeze by with two credit card widths away from hitting the ladder and car on the left. No time to panic, just displayed my superior Asian driving skills. People behind me not so much. People tailgating.

Plans for staying at the casinos until the traffic died down went out the window when the WSDOT app on my phone displayed a 5 minute northbound wait time at both the Lynden/Aldergrove and Sumas/Huntingdon crossings. I dropped everything and headed directly down Guide Meridian. Like going directly to jail in monopoly, I didn't pass anything. Cried as I passed by Jack in Her Box, both Edaleen Dairy locations and Northwoods Casino. I mean 5 minutes compared to 90 minutes and 55 minutes, was a no brainer. This was at 2:15. BTW, that WSDOT app is great. Check it out if you haven't yet. I used to have other apps, but somehow can't find them on my phone anymore. Any suggestions of other border crossing apps would be greatly appreciated......... by 2025, when the borders open up again, without restrictions, gulolol.

Anyway, when I get to the Aldergrove crossing, the line up looked pretty decent. I was like until I realized how slow it was. By the time I got to the booth, 25 minutes later, dude asked me a total of three questions and waived me through. That part took me no more than 45 seconds. Damn. Maybe scanning my EDL made a difference? I think the Aldergrove crossing is one of the few crossings where the card scanner actually works.

So, if the 5 minute wait time turned out to be 25, I can't imagine how long the 90 minute wait time at Douglas/Blaine crossing was. Thank god most people don't realize you can cross at any border location, not just the one you indicated on the ArriveCAN app. I had an estimated 10:45 arrival time at Douglas indicated on the receipt. Yeah............... didn't even get asked.

Not sure about that, as I don't buy veggies or fruit south of the border, but when I was at TJ's in Lynwood, I saw some snow peas there. I haven't purchased snow peas in like, forever. Most, if not all the ones I see at Superstore, Walmart, Safeway up here are from chinar, so I avoid it. These were from the US of A. I'm looking forward to stir fried snow peas with bacon. At Winco, I checked out bags of coleslaw and they were decent in price.

Prices south of the border not cheap for a lot of stuff. Like I said previously, it's the things you can't get up here that make the trip worth it. That Lynwood TJ's had stuff that the one in Bellingham rarely have in stock, because of Canadian whoreders like me.

Even though it was for a short time, the lifted restrictions crossing was awesome. So much for browsing the Famers Market in Seattle. Now that's something I haven't done in ages. The wife and I used to go there plenty of times. Don't really know why, but good memories, for sure.

The Enhanced drivers license just replaces the need to have your passport with you. It serves as a licence, so double duty. When Ready Lanes were still in effect, it was a great way of getting into the US. Same lane as NEXUS.

When you wave your card at the reader, it just sends your info to the booth instantly. I guess it's just a courtesy thing. Speeds up the process. The border guard still has to swipe the card, but in my mind, I would like to think it tells whoever at the booth, that you're a regular and all is well.......... more like wishful thinking. The EDL doesn't work in the NEXUS lane. Speaking of NEXUS, I still can't make an appointment for an interview. I applied for Nexus in August of 2019. No appointments available anywhere in Canada, ATM. I can go for an appointment at the Enrollment Center in Blaine, but the earliest available appointment is in April of 2022.

EDIT: I just checked the Trusted Traveller Program website and it looks like they stepped it up in Blaine. Earliest appointment is now January 11, 2022. Hmmmmmmmm............. essential travel? The pcr testing before coming back though. Nah. I'll just wait it out.

Another thing I thought noteworthy was that Costco, at least the one north of tulalip, was giving out samples. I mean nothing like up here. Lots of different things and big portions. Lunch was great, gulolol. One lady gave me like a half dozen Lindor balls.
