On a related note... actually saw this in Langley the other day: :troll: https://dn-c360.qbox.me/ce5e69a509e8...663c5bf6d37aba |
I don't think she has a case in court. English and French are the official languages of Canada. Anything else a business does not have to serve you if you can't understand them. Anyone remember that annoying guy who demanded to speak in French on the airplane? He has done it many times in the past and won multiple human rights case. But... you know she should have brought her son along everywhere she went, need a translator right? :troll: |

Official language of BC is only English. Only place you can 'demand' French are gov't buildings if I'm not mistaken. Quebec is French, and New Brunswick is the only official bilingual province. How do people get citizenship if they can barely speak English? I don't get it! It boggles the mind. |

I think we should rally around McD's on this one. Send a message to these fucktards that enough is enough. Canada is a great country to move to because of what it is. If you bring it down to how life was where you emmigrated from, then you are changing what Canada is. I fully support multiculturalism - celebrate the differences, but keep the core values that all Canadians believe in and enjoy, alone. We really need to get these people to see the rest of this country......... go canoeing, go camping, go do what regular Canadians do. Stop living life as you did from wherever you came. If you want that kind of life... for fuck's sake, move back. Most of us Canadians don't urinate or shit out in the open, spit on the sidewalk, throw tantrums, butt in front of the line, act all arrogant, I can go on and on......... I feel sorry for the CBC, who's forefathers endured discrimination and injustices...... the Chinese here have built a good reputation over many generations...... only to have it wiped away by the actions of these recent immigrants. To the stupid Chinese woman (so tempted to call her something else): Charter of Rights? Yeah, it's there for a reason and you totally missed the point......... now get the fuck out. You're the one who needs to apologize to the people of Canada! I know what I'm saying goes beyond the language issue here, but I'm getting fed up with all this bullshit. |

I believe the sign on the left says: We want a settlement Posted via RS Mobile |
I'm all for speaking whatever language you want at the restaurant you own but this is fucking stupid. Mainlanders give the Chinese population such a reputation, and this happens all over the world. I blame the other idiot people "supporting" not painting this issue in a negative light. Saw a family of mainlanders shouting at airline in HK airport because they didn't make their flight because of the weather while everyone looked at them and laughed. They really need to deal with this immigration problem ASAP and not just base things on financial wealth but also education level. Sigh. |
I am Chinese and i feel that she really brings shame to the Chinese community... My mom came here for almost a decade and doesn't speak English. She feels quite shameful not even knowing basic english.. she doesn't go around bitching and holding some stupid Chinese sign shit that talks about " standing up " and demanding Chinese speakers everywhere. |

Hah, not sure what happened here but there's always 2 sides to every story and where's her respect for learning the language of her now home country. They ever try to be a white guy getting service or trying to ask a question at a shop in Yaohan or Parker Place??? I have, but I didn't stand in front of the stores (that don't have any English signs and clearly don't want my kind doing business with them) taking a picture of myself holding up a photocopy of the Charter when it didn't go so well for me. Double standards yo. |
EVERYBODY speaks the language of McDonald's!!! :yuno: |
Maybe a guy at the counter should have asked her to service him. If she refused he could claim racism. Posted via RS Mobile |
Kudos to McDonald's Canada for not backing down. So often, organizations will change their stance on an issue in light of a public outcry. Glad this wasn't the case here. Their official statement: Quote:
