Samsung Galaxy S 5

Its that time of year again. Latest rumours point to two variants for the S5; a "premium" model made of metal and a "normal" model made of plastic. I guess they learned a thing or two from the HTC One. Another impressive feature is a massive 4AH battery; which will probably support Qualcomm's Quick Charge too since the Note 3 does.

The rumour mill is beginning to spin at full speed, today the Korean site ETNEWS is throwing something rather interesting to the table.

After the disappointing sales ot the Samsung S4 and because of that the rumour the Galaxy S5 was releasing in January, to compete with their rivals 6 months device update strategy. Now there is a new rumour claiming that the Galaxy S5 will come in two version and will hit mass production somewhere in January. And is scheduled to release somewhere in March or April.

As they normally enter mass production in March / April they are 3 months ahead of schedule. The overall specifications of the Galaxy S5 are: a 64-bit Exynos or a Snapdragon processor, it will pack 3 GB of RAM, a 16 MP camera, a 4,000 mAh battery, and it will run on Android 4.4 KitKat (presumably covered with a new version of TouchWiz).
This source claims that there will be a “Premium” model sporting a metal case, and a flexible OLED and one “normal” version sporting a normal OLED and a plastic chassis.

Samsung will start producing an amount of 800.000 to 1 million units in January, and will ramp it up to 6 million units somewhere in February. This is due that Samsung is targeting 70% of their sales from the S4. Is this something they do on purpose because of the saturated high-end market?

At least Samsung will be releasing both variant with the same hardware. Unlike Apple reusing last year's hardware in a new plastic shell.

Hmm the S4 seems to have pretty good sales number. I am not sure if I like this while releasing a new phone every year.

The S4, iphone5, HTC, note3 is still more than enough to do everyday task. Yes technology need to advance but a new phone every year seems a bit ridicious. Also it just seems like Samsung is throwing out new model of their phones every 3 months or so and it just confuse people. Look at how many different model of phones they release this year alone. There is the S4, S4 active, S4 zoom, S4 mini, Note3, Galaxy Round, Galaxy S, Galaxy Mega and that's not even counting their low end smartphone line.

Samsung Galaxy S5 launching by April, exec says 'it?s about the display and the feel of the cover' | MobileSyrup.com

Feel of the cover? Are they gonna use the faux leather from the Note 3?

Is hard not to use plastic though. i know a lot of people who uses their S4 and note3 simply because you can replace the battery and it allows the use of a micro SD card........

^being able to swap out battery seems to be the big thing for a lot of people, myself included; however, i find that if you are just using it for email and calls and some light surfing you actually don't need to swap out the battery. And there is always portable battery that comes with different adapters which probably works better and cost less than oem battery.

I have a 32gb S3 with a lot of songs avg 8mb+ in size as well as pictures and that barely takes up half of the capacity so i wonder why many people want to increase their phone's capacity to like 64gb+?

Well given on the S4 after the OS and touchwiz and all the bloatware your phone is left is around 8.9GB out of 16GB as advertise so I can see why having a micro SD card slot is very useful.

given Apple's track record of same phone every year look and minimal spec upgrade, yeah wait for Apple. also iTunes...ugh.

If you want a different looking phone with more openess, go Android.

i went through 7 iphones (first gen, 3g, 2x-3gs, 4, 2x-4s) before upgrading to Android and i couldnt go back, wouldnt even consider it for a second

i had a s3 and now im with a s4 just because i got the option to upgrade for free.

iphones on the other hand.. you pretty much just have to expect them to lag, freeze and just stop working.. its kind of a normal thing with an iphone

really? It was the reverse experience for me. I was with android since 2.1 eclair(?) days. After a year or so everything would just lag too much and had to buy a new phone.

Switched over at iphone 4 and 4s and was happy with the smoothness. Went back to Nexus 5 becuase iphone 5/s was not worth spending $600 on lol
