Some tuner in Japan is going to do it within weeks of the car coming out and have it ready for either SEMA or Tokyo Auto Salon 2019. Smokey Nagata at Top Secret got right to work when he bought one of the first GT-R's, so I wouldn't put it past anyone there to drop the money on a base Supra and swaps in a 2JZ.

That thing is PAINFULLY ugly. Like a 1996 prelude with a shit body kit. And the bmw engine?!?! That is absolutely NOT how you follow up one of the most historically popular motors ever

bcrdukes 02-15-2018 10:09 AM

Bring back Timpo!

jjson 02-15-2018 10:17 AM

It's begging for a 2JZ swap lol

N54 is a beautiful engine once the quirks have been resolved. I, for one, welcome our bavarian overlords

most of the issues u read online regarding the BMW turbo 6 has to do with the N54, twin turbo straight 6 engine. the revised, twin scroll, single turbo N55 engine is a lot more reliable.

GabAlmighty 02-15-2018 05:31 PM

For the love of god please release it with a proper transmission and third pedal

When the BMW engine blows.... so pretty damn soon lol.

I had my eye on one of these in the near future, but not with the BMW engine. Take away the reliability from a Toyota and what is it really?

exilegod 02-17-2018 12:18 AM

not a fan of the look at all -_-

thumper 02-17-2018 04:40 AM

more from supra mkv... looks like the magazine is almost correct with its rendering (it dosen't say which trim level the camo test car is):

first thing I looked for was for a hole in the firewall for the potential placement of clutch hydraulic bits in the production version. The hole for the brake booster seems to be placed very far to the left. Not looking good.

twitchyzero 03-06-2018 10:36 AM

lost count how many Supra rumours we've seen in the past 20 years

we're finally so damn close to a production model even if it's more bmw than toyota

As someone who used to own a MKIII JZA70 TTR 5MT and currently owns a MKIV RZ 6MT, clearly they are asking the wrong people in their market research. I've owned many Toyota cars and have been looking forward to the MKV since the MKIV was discontinued. I'm not rich but I'm at a point in my life where I can finance/lease a 60-70K second car. First of all, I think partnering with BMW was a mistake. BMW stuff falls apart almost immediately after leaving the show room. Some even earlier than that. I know this as a fact, I've owned every generation of M3 aside from the F30. Toyota should have subcontracted the engine to Yamaha like they always had. Second, no manual option guarantees the MKV as a dud. I know Toyota doesn't care about used car pricing as it doesn't really affect their profits. But if they look at the used MK4 market, real 6MT ones are selling at 2-3 times their AT counterparts. That should indicate something.

twitchyzero 03-06-2018 09:35 PM

mkiv probably just went up in value a bit more from the no six-speed confirmation
