I just submitted a claim (I do have the extended warranty) for accidental damage by calling into OP.

Deductible aside, the process couldn't have been easier. In 15 mins the lady on the phone took my information and arranged to have a replacement phone shipped out. 10 mins after that I receive a tracking number from FedEx.

For those wondering, it looks like I'll be getting a refurb version of the phone I originally bought a year ago. Will report back when I receive the package in 1-3BDs, but if I get a new charger as well that would be a small bonus.

Do they do advance replacements? Where you get the new phone first, then send in the broken one?

How much was plan, and how much is deductible? No maximum # of claims?

Yup replacement is 1-3BDs and said replacement comes with prepaid shipping materials to ship your bad phone out.

IIRC the plan needed to be purchased at the same time as the phone. It was ~$120 IIRC for 2 years, and the deductable is a touch over $100. Maximum 2 accidental claims per 2 year period.

Given how much negativity I heard towards OP and their RMA process, I'm going to guess that getting the extended plan affords you with quicker service. I'm supposed to get my replacement tomorrow, whereas some people said the RMA process took weeks if not months.

Thanks for the info.

I bought 3 devices from OP so far and thankfully have never had to RMA anything, but yes, I definitely considered it for the 3T. Maybe next phone I will, if the 3rd party insurance provider is much easier to deal with. Thanks for the info!

Just to update the process:

I received my replacement not too long ago. It was just UNDER 24hrs from filing claim to receiving replacement. The replacement was a brand new shrink-wrapped unit. So far so good in terms of not getting a lemon! Overall I think the extended plan has been worth it even with the higher than Apple deductible.

What do you guys think of the Oneplus 5?

SiRV 06-20-2017 07:10 PM

Good price, decent camera... my nexus 6p is lasting 1.5 hours now and shutting down at 40%, i need a replacement... I don't have a 1200 to blow on a phone... one plus 5 128GB will need to do.

TOS'd 06-20-2017 07:43 PM

Has anyone successfully opened up their 3/3T? Having trouble separating the metal backing with the rest of it.

Nabatron 06-20-2017 08:28 PM

the one plus 5 looks legit really impressed with it....just wondering if anyone knows with oxygen os does it support split screen with apps?

SiRV 06-20-2017 08:40 PM

Good question. I don't know... after having a nexus 6p and split screen features, its now an essential feature. I'm curious too

Nabatron 06-20-2017 10:08 PM

I think split screen does work with it since it will be running nougat 7.1

inv4zn 06-20-2017 11:09 PM

Split screen works well on my 3T. Standard android split screen fare.

I guess the only annoying thing about OxygenOS is that today it sent me a push notification about the OP5 lol. A taaad sketchy but it was the first one ever, I let it slide.

The alert-slider is a fucking God-send. Should be standard on every phone.

asian_XL 06-21-2017 03:43 AM

I bought 2 for my parents now just find out they won't work with my QC3.0 charger.

no OIS, no usb3.0 (I am very happy with my S8 transfer speed)

SiRV 06-21-2017 05:06 AM

USB-C is an upgrade man...
Btw, awesome camera comparison video.

Second video doesn't have the OP5, but it goes to show how 'individualized' our preferences are.

FerrariEnzo 06-21-2017 05:52 AM

Not feeling the OP5... if I wanted an iPhone, I would buy one.. lol

Nabatron 06-21-2017 10:38 PM

^would u pay double the price for an iPhone?

asian_XL 06-22-2017 07:18 AM

Can't wait, my order will be shipped on 26th

Because its Apple! :alone:

Nabatron 06-22-2017 10:17 AM

yeah that's true! I am using an iphone6 right now but am surprised with how a lot of manufactures are stepping up their game and apple now seems to be playing catch up. I for one am done with buying ridiculous prices for an iphone and going to make the switch to android but yeah that's me.

twixxer 06-22-2017 11:08 AM

Received my OnePlus5 yesterday, pretty happy so far. But the Bumper Case is terrible. Can hardly move the slider since its so recessed with the case on.

Nabatron 06-22-2017 12:10 PM

what type of case did u get?

Holy shit that was fast.
What was your last phone? How does it compare?

SiRV 06-22-2017 06:26 PM

Also, is anyone familiar with bluetooth5? Will it be able to access both a Bluetooth headset while allowing usage of the aux port as well?

Nabatron 06-23-2017 08:48 AM

by the looks with all the reviews on youtube the oneplus5 is super fast! I am going to need to replace my iphone6 asap so this will be my new phone! Cant afford to be buying 1200-1400 iphones lol

Armind 06-23-2017 08:52 AM

Gonna see what the new Pixel and iPhone offer before deciding. Specs and design wise, not bad.
